Description So, I first read The Silmarillion years and years ago, and have been listening to the audiobook of it recently (and I am probably the only one who notices the mispronunciations here and there, though to give the reader credit, he gets *most* things right XD) , and reliving my deep and undying love for it. Audiobooks are my friends, I have discovered; they help keep my brain busy while I make myself do work. ^^

This isn't supposed to by anyone in particular; rather, it's what came out of the end of my pencil during church yesterday, and I picked at it more over the course of the rest of the day. On a technical note, it was a self-imposed challenge to work using as much tone and as little line as possible, since I tend to be very linear-oriented.

So soft and graceful! It makes me think of Elwing, trying to keep the Silmaril safe. Excellent job!

Great to see that other people love the Silmarillion as much as I do! A lot of the people I know that have read it think it's boring. Losers.
This is an absolutely beautiful piece! One of my favorites from you!

Losers indeed. It's one of my favorite books in the world, and not boring at all. I read it in two school days, (slow for me, actually), but I've been rereading it recently and finding out so many things I missed the first time. Great picture!

I haven't read it in a while, I should definitely re-read it this summer! Every time I read it I find things that I miss that make me love it even more!

LOL. I actually pay attention much better if I do! So my parents can't complain (my dad is the pastor, my mom leads music). XDDD

First read The Silmarillion about a year ago coz I was in a really big LOTR phase, and then it took me over seven weeks to finish it! Probably coz I kept on reading other stuff at the same time . . . But it was pretty interesting.

And the pic - I think you've managed the toning really well.

It's so hard to pronounce the names correctly! >_<

....I would know, haha. Uhm, so Kaysha, I know you love Tolkien, and I was wondering if you had ever been to The Tolkien Professor ?? He does a lot of podcast recordings (you can download them through itunes) and they are very interesting. Also, he gets really excited about it, so it's fun. :]

I actually make audiobooks for some of Tolkien's works, which is why I mention the Tolkien Prof. n_n

It is! The only thing I'm not entirely clear on is 'ae', as in Maedhros. The guy in the audiobook can't seem to make up his mind either, and when I looked up the pronunciation guide in the LotR appendices, I still wasn't sure. How do *you* pronounce that one?

And and and do you have your audiobooks uploaded anywhere? DO WANT. (Also, had not heard of the Tolkien Professor, so I will be checking that out and likely geeking out like you wouldn't believe; thank you!)

Finally (odd place to make this comment, I know, but I just saw this in your journal on your main page): HOW DID I MANAGE TO NOT NOTICE YOU WERE COSPLAYING FAKE AT OTAKON. SALKGHS;LGHsh. Are there pictures? ;A;
srsly how could I be so dense, especially when I've cosplayed Ryo myself before?

Ugh, I'm a terrible, horrid person for not responding to this sooner. I'm so sorry Kaysha!! Okay, so now that I'm finished the semester, I'm finally getting caught up on everything. So far as a lot of the pronunciations go for Tolkien, it's good to look into the pronunciations for Anglo-Saxon words. So, the "æ" is pronounced as Mahy-dro-s (but really quickly, if that makes any sense); this link kind of helps: [link]

I don't have any of the audio books uploaded, but I could send you a chapter if you wanted? It's not the best, because I'm not a master editor or whatnot, haha~ :] ((I'm currently working on the fourth book in the Lost Tales (w/Christopher Tolkien) but I've done some work on the first book~))

xD OMG YOU LIKE FAKE TOO?!?! THIS IS VERY EXCITING!! YES, OH YES, THERE ARE PICTURES. ((I may upload a few of the better ones here, yes/no?))

((Ahahaha, it's just part of being a Ryo cosplayer, you kind of have to be dense, lol))

I love it! It's so soft. I still need to finish the Silmarillion. It frustrates me that I never seem to have time when I pick it up. Maybe I should find the audio book and listen when I'm working on my ceramics homework.

Ohhhhh~~ So soft and pretty! It almost looks like an old fashioned illustration, which I love. I'll have to give the silmarillion another try one of these days... I tried reading it years ago and got too confused...lol

Haha, I also doodle in church often!

And the hands make me happy. <3

Simply lovely. It has such a wistful and fragile feeling to it, yet from her posture and the position of her hands I get the idea there's something dear to her that she wants to protect. I love this style from you. I definitely support you using it more in the future.

Also, heads up—you've got mail.

I really love it when you do these subtle graceful pieces. Sometimes I think flashy overruns DA. It's refreshing to see something so soft & beautiful.
