You could look at this one of 3 ways:
1) In the Harry Potter books James Potter's animagus form is a stag, by extension Lily as his mate is a doe. This painting symbolizes the Potters with their young son Harry, Lily is helping the little fellow get up and walk for the first time.
2) The deer family could be from Disney's Bambi. Bambi's mother is helping the young fawn walk, while the Great Prince watches from a distance as he usually does.
3) The simplest interpretation: a doe, fawn and stag in the forest, no specific character associations.
