Description This was my first time rendering wet skin since my Cascade Faerie [link] pic that I did in 2005.

The Bikini in the original photograph was a light blue gingham pattern (which reminded mt too much of Dorothy from the wizard of oz )...

Instead I decided to go for a more Hawaiian style Hibiscus print

Yeah the Hibiscus is a great flower... Simple, yet exotic looking... I thought it was the perfect flower for this painting

they're so big too. and they only bloom for one day.
I used to make bets with my brother on how many would bloom the following day. lol

so you're not asking the models first? I allways do that first, then the photographer, and if both say yes, I know I won't get in trouble (Had that a couple of years ago, where a model sued me, because I haven't asked her first... wasn't fun)

kedishiarts In reply to DiRi [2008-04-08 19:33:01 +0000 UTC]

No I asked her first (she asked me this time around)... I just don't think she's seen the final artwork that's all

I always get permission first

I can't afford to get sued

Oh yes... At the Adults only show in Birmingham (My home town) last october

He left me a message on Myspace, telling me to come along and say hello, because he knew I was from around there...

And that's exactly what I did

He's a great guy... weve been in touch ever since... You're a member of the Guild of Erotic Artists too aren't you?

I was thinking of joining up I'm not sure whats stopping me really...

I've sent her a message on Myspace (where she got in contact with me) with a link to the image, but I don't think that she's seen it yet as I haven't heard anything from her yet...

She's seen WIPs but not the final image (to my knowledge)

I always make sure I get their blessing first

Even from Natasha Yi, who i'm currently working on... I'm also working on a Jamiee Eason piece too (still in the sketching stage)

Thanks... I'm definatley improving

I have started to shade my pencil sketches which helps me work more quickly... and since my drawing is getting better, I'm spending less time fixing the problems on the computer...

Plus My new wacom tablet helps me work more quickly

can you do a tutorial on how you color line art?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kedishiarts In reply to keykeyx10000 [2008-04-03 05:53:58 +0000 UTC]

I've been thinking about doing one for my website actually...

I work like an airbrush artist... I use a lot of masks and selections etc...

When I start colouring the sketch that I'm working on, I'll save the steps and I'll try to put one together

keykeyx10000 In reply to kedishiarts [2008-04-03 11:13:46 +0000 UTC]

but how do you hide the lines without making it look rough?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kedishiarts In reply to keykeyx10000 [2008-04-03 20:01:22 +0000 UTC]

I don't really use lines...

I scan my pencil sketch, and I bring it into Photoshop.

From there I create selections using the pen tool, which I then save for use in the later steps...
I save different selections for different body parts (arms, legs, head, torso etc.) and work from there...

when I make selections, I always make sure the Anti-Aliasing is switched on... that way you'll get smooth edges as opposed to rough, jagged edges

Is that what you mean?

keykeyx10000 In reply to kedishiarts [2008-04-04 03:23:05 +0000 UTC]

I think soooo..I'll figure it out lol. When I color line art I ink it. print it. and color over it. sometimes I try getting rid of the lines but it looks so jagged. I guess I want to know how to make it look like there were no lines at all.

Do you do your lineart by hand or on the computer?

keykeyx10000 In reply to kedishiarts [2008-04-04 18:34:26 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean...

I can't draw digitally... I have to do it on paper...

Mind you at least that way I have something that I can physically hold
