i was listening to the song on repeat when I shot some photos the other day...
If you listen to the song, it's actually got a hopeful tone to it, therefore, the brighter image.
More than anything, it's just representing a reflective state of mind, where you've sort of moved on, but you haven't forgotten or even forgiven the past.
