Commission for =drumgirl of the Dragonlance character Palin Majere.Alternative title: Lifting Shadows Off A Dream
This one was a bit of a challenge, as I find painting water very difficult. But over all I am happy with the results.
This also may be my last work for a while as I have developed mild tendinosis (I have not yet seen a doctor to be exact, but both my parents are very familiar with it and have had it in the past) in my right wrist and hand, making drawing and especially painting very painful. Pretty much all I can do is take it easy and not overuse that hand, so the digital painting will have to go on hold for a while. But please don't worry its not that big of a deal, its just a sore wrist.
On better news, I have finally decided to hold another contest (with the first place winner getting a free commission). I will hopefully announce it in my journal within the next few days.

This is a wonderful painting of Palin!Β He was the exact opposite of his notorious uncle, Raistlin Majere, who donned the black robes and became completely, wholly evil, to the point where he betrayed his best friends, and was even willing to murder his twin brother, to reach the heights of power...or just to save his own life at the cost of everyone else.Β
When Palin showed an interest and talent in the Arcane, both his parents feared the shadow of the dark mage who was Caramon's brother.Β They insisted their son don the White Robes of Solinari, and he grew to be nearly as powerful as his long lost uncle.Β During his Test of High Sorcery, Palin entered the sealed laboratory of Raistlin, and came forth whole, safe and sound, bearing his uncle's staff...the fabled Staff of Magius.
My own character, Jasryn Storm, is the apprentice and brother-in-law of Palin.Β Jasryn showed a singular talent for magic, and Palin knew he was hiding from the Dark Knights of Neraka.Β When Jasryn was 16, he correctly cast a flying incantation from an incomplete scroll, which was mid-level magic.Β Having no choice, Palin took his teenaged apprentice to Wayreth for his Test, which the boy barely passed.Β As a result, his eyes constantly change color, from sapphire blue to gold.Β Then, when he was 19, the Black Robe Danvil Felcraft, along with a contingent of Dark Knights and the dragon Cinder, came to Solace looking for their erstwhile heir toΒ the barony of Bladmere.Β Thus began a quest, and a race, to recover the legendary Staff of Air, Arion.Β An intelligent artifact that possesses all the powers of a Ring of Elemental Command of Air, it rejected the grasping Black Robe Lundarquarius Eclipse and Danvil Felcraft, for Jasryn.Β That was when the boy and his friends learned the truth: Jasryn was in fact a young silver dragon, trapped in human form; Eclipse was indeed a Shadowdragon, suffering from the same curse, laid upon them by Felcraft, who had beenΒ experimenting on the hatchlings of the good dragons (and evil ones) while Dragart turned the eggs into draconians.Β Felcraft had intended to lead a corps of supremely powerful mages, but miscalculated.Β None of the young dragons he'd turned into humanoid form would obey him.
I would like upload to you a copy of my trilogy, as yet unpublished, which chronicles the adventures we went through playing Dragonlance.Β If possible, a commission from you would be very nice indeed, for the cover of one of my novels.

Palin always was a favorite character of the Dragonlance series. He's everything that his uncle could've been at one time, had he made the "good" choice, as opposed to the "evil" during the Test. He inherited his uncle's magical gift and intellect, but his father's heart of compassion and goodness. Excellent portrayal.

Just looking at this picture makes me want to reread some Dragonlance books and revise what I remember or know about Palin. An absolutely amazing piece of art. I admire the general flow and composition of the picture, and the clothing design is nice.
