Finished! *faint*Shaiyus got a new look and finally a class. He's now dual-classed as a psion and a psychic warrior.
Shai is my favourite character and the first evil character I ever designed and roleplayed. I'm still not good at playing evil characters but I like him.
His wings were really difficult to draw, I had no idea how to start with them until I looked at a few pictures and then I finally got a few directions. This is probably his final look, I don't think my style changes that much anymore and I really like him that way.
As to where he is actually standing - Underdark, Hordes of the Underdark, shortly before he gets the little bastards stealing his equipment. Poor drow. But it's a bit difficult for him to get a good armour with the little extensions on his back so he had to trot through Undermountain in normal clothes.
The runes on the ground are some sort of protection - I forgot the name of the power he's using, I still have to get used to the PRC Pack, although I got a great amount of information about psions out of it.

This is great -- I love the shading, you did especially well on the wings. The background is also very nice, and though the runes are a bit eyebleedy, they add a very nice effect. I also like the designs on his robe-thing and boots. His hands are a little small, but otherwise this whole thing is quite well-done and soft. Great job!

Yes, hands are something I don't really like to do... I normally hide them somewhere or search through books and pictures to get an idea how they'd look like in a specific pose. And they are always the last thing I draw.

Na, he wouldn't chop off your head, he would dominate your brain and order you to do a lot of nasty things. But he can't because I'm still his master!
I searched for pictures with runes - there are a few alchemical runes, symbols for zodiac signs and planets and that stuff. That was much more fun and much easier than drawing his *shudder* wings. And I didn't draw them feather by feather!

I suppose since the smearing didn't really require much attention I just did it and my mind was totally elsewhere - and that's probably the reason why I can't remember if it took me long or not.

I can't draw chibis very well either - but that'S mainly because I haven't really tried drawing them until now. But I love them! So many expressions in such a cute and handy form! And I love them evern more after seeing Chibi-Valen somewhere here on dA. ^^
I heard GIMP was similar to Photoshop - but I'll most likely never be able to compare them. After all - GIMP is for free.
Ah yes, absent-minded is one of the adjectives which describes me best. Next to crazy and psychotic of course.

well, why not? you can download free 30 days version of PS, and when it runs out you download free 30 day version of a bit older PS and so on XDD and you can try to see how open canvas works for 30 days too ^__^ though I myself have pirate PS (bought for like... 2$? XDD istead of 400+

I think I had something Photoshop-like for a few days, but it annoyed me and I changed back to GIMP. 
But if I ever want to test PS, I'll be sure to take your advice!

But it gave me a few ideas on what to do with Paint... I think it actually can be useful for certain textures... *thinks* Wee, I think I can use it for fur and velvet which is kind of hard to draw because of the structure...
Okay, thinking-mode goes out now, I'm way too lazy to test it right now but it's good tp keep it in mind.
I found a similar video about Paint - someone made a car with it. I saw how many different shades of blue he used and just went 'OMG' when I saw it. So much work... *shudder* But cool. ^^

Hmm... maybe I could chain him to my wall instead. Or to the inside of my wardrobe. His proximity to all the pretty clothes would give me entertaining dress-up ideas. 
He should meet my alter ego - emphasis on "ego" - whose ego eats Tokyo on an alarmingly regular basis. I am trying to conscript anime-style flying Japanese schoolgirls to kick the damn thing into Antarctica or somewhere like that.

Hm, chaining to a wall is not a good idea either - that's how he had to spend his days in the Planar Prison because the idiot got caught.
But the wardrobe sounds like fun - and don't worry, there are ways to make his wings disappear, sometimes he actually doesn't want to stand out. 
Ah well, because he can basically get everything he wants if he can control other people's mind he feels soooo special.
I normally don't giggle but I have - or so I have heard - still my demonic smirk when I think of something particular amusing... it unnerves people. And I like that.
