the noise it makes is its defense noise, if u watch carefully, the feathers around its neck also puff up and it spreads its wings out a lil too, its pretty funny if ur a lil distance away ^^ my dad wants to shoot the grackles in our yard cuz they're such nasty birds to the other birds... they defend the sunflower seeds and thistle like no other, so the other birds can never eat... yeah idk if he really will or not, but i hope not great capture tho ^^ *faves*

Cool thanks for the info and the fav! I just got back from Costa Rica, I saw one down there. We were in a restaurant and it was banging its beak on the glass like it was trying to get in or something, it was pretty funny

Do you live in the United States? If so, they're all over, especially up here in North Dakota. That's the reason my dad wants to shoot ours, because they steal the seeds and protect them like no other from other birds, so the other birds can't eat... v.v

I love those birds!!! Their sound surprised me too! I walked around and heard gggggkatchinggg! And I remember wondering why anyone would steal an old cash register. After a few more times I finally figured it was the bird. LOL.
