I didn't know the Matrix movies had mechs, I thought it just had weird mind powers, humans as batteries, and the Nebuchadnezzar ship.

I don't recall completing the movies... though I did see a scorpion get into someone's navel.

Who puts a scorpion into someones navel? Can't you use a q-tip or a stick or something. It would be like trying to shove a whole pie into someones mouth.

I can recall something about a blue pill and a red pill... though that's only because of a Deathrun map from TF2 where the demomans projectiles are shown and described as pills

I'm pretty sure this mech had kind of hands so it didn't hadto carry the guns all the time.

indeed, the guns could be holstered at the back of the apu

well if you actually watched the movie and had some sort of common sense you would understand why the design is the way it is

Nice render, I collect images of different equipment to help me with ideas for my fiction and this is the first time I have seen a render of the Matrix 3 Mechs. Awesome work.

do you think you could ever do the armoured APU, as seen in the animatrix?

armored battlesuits are pretty much essencial. they basically combine the armor and firepower of an assault vehicle with the agility and responsiveness of an infantry unit. these can even block bullets to protect other infantry soldiers, they can pretty much do anything a human does (except handling delicate things and doing acrobatics... of course) so theyre overall very versatile.
theres absolutelly no way to deny it deserves a place in almost any movie.
otherwise, you can say star wars is a complete rip off from space 1999, because only in Space 1999 laser weapons became common on the screen, and star wars features TONS of those, TONS of times.
or spaceships.
i agree, sometimes movies tend to rip off ideas from eachother, but you must agree that sometimes it is inevitable.
also, these aren't even similar. the AVATAR version is lighter, smoother, pressurised, compact, and has usable hands and (i believe i saw one in the movie) a jetpack propellor to help him jump short distances or absorb falls. APU trades that for a more desperate style: basically a guy attached to a cage geared with legs and two high caliber, apparently watercooled heavy machineguns.

well, you should take it back. an opinion is an opinion, afterall.
what you're talking about, that i know a lot more than you, is merely the result of years drawing robots and conceptual weapons based on real-life models and principles. i could say i pretty much know how each and every weapon (firearm or not) works in the inside, and i simply apply it to what i consider to be fit.
instance, water-cooled MGs are extremelly heavy but can fire for really long until they overheat - and in matrix, those APUs seem to fire sometimes 30 seconds or more straight. at that firerate, and assuming the bullets the fire are somewhat equivalent to a .50BMG (the same caliber used in the Browning M2HB machinegun USA uses in armoured vehicles), based on the damage they do, im telling you, those MGs MUST BE WATERCOOLED, because NO BARREL can whitstand that much brutality and heat for so long.
about other tactical considerations about the APU as a vehicle, well, i simply know the pros and cons of most types of vehicles.
if theres EVER any kind of doubt regarding military equipment, feel free to ask me, i'll be pleased if there's something i can help you with.
to be hones most people think im a fanatist for weapons...
well, i am. i absolutelly love them, FROM A MECHANICAL POINT OF VIEW. personally, i hate them because of the fact that they only exist to kill people. other than that, i love destroying targets and testing weapons. who doesnt?

that is true in a way, avatar kind of copied the high soulder design and control interface, but consider it may have been the same concept designer

Very true. The cockpit needs more armor, and a point defense system of some kind; I don't know, a slightly strong electrical shock armor?

SixCoreSecond In reply to mechanut721 [2016-10-23 15:18:30 +0000 UTC]
the cockpit does not need any more armor at all... have you not watched the movie? armor is not a thing for a sentinel, they tear it apart like paper... the only thing armor would be protecting from is friendly fire and rumble falling from above... other than that its just unnecissary weight

Did you find concept work on the net or just screen shots from the film?
