Description I started drawing this yesterday, finished it this morning (just now actually), I'm not sure what category it would go in, so I'll change it if I find something better

I used a hand from my anatomy book to draw this, I was just going to draw a hand, but the bones looked so much like a robot's, that I really wanted to make it more mechanical, so here it is...

I'll probably do more body parts (some mechanical maybe...), because I sort of really need to learn anatomy stuff (!!!)

Does it use an engine/motor or inertia to move?

Unfortunately, I have no idea. I study languages, not engineering or anything of that nature... I just drew the parts randomly.

If I were to design a character based on this though, it would probably be a clockwork sort of thing, maybe inspired by Alice in Wonderland and Tim Burton. Steam-punk stuff. Wind-up mechanical clock character? Wow, you're giving me ideas XD

Hey, can i have permission to use this for school? I'm a Engineering Student in The Netherlands.

Looking forward to your reaction!

I was an intern at an Engineering office. I was engineering (still am btw) a deepsea robot, with claws. I can find not a single nice drawing of one that is not my design. Theyre either photos, or ugly.. xD

I saw yours and i loved it straight away! Thanks so much!

You can contact me at robin.diekmann@gmail.com , i don't come here alot..

I like it, so did school!

It is really interesting indeed!! I currently worked on a project for designing a deepsea robot with legs, and a machine that can plant 1 flowerbulb in 0,6 seconds. That's like sixthousand every hour! That is 2,6 times the flowerbulbs that a single person can do in an hour! But the machine doesnt have lunchtime, and works 24/7, so it's alot faster.

Cool machine

anyway!! You got facebook where we can talk?

I'm Robin Diekmann, you can find me there

that a very awesome mechanic hand. keep up the good word
im wondering though because i got a project going about a mechanical hand i want to know did you just draw random mechanical parts or did you plan out what part goes where or did you just draw what came to mind
please reply

I looked up random pictures (I typed in 'robots' or 'clock works' or 'robot joints' etc in google...), but I didn't really use any of them, they just gave me some ideas.

I drew what came to mind or what I remembered from seeing machines or movies (you know transformers and the like).. I didn't have a plan, because this started out as just drawing the bones of a hand. (I used the drawing of the hand as reference - the position of the hand was the only planned part)

So yeah, I hope your project goes well, I recommend studying pictures of different joints of robots and such or looking into how machines work, and clockworks are very fascinating...

What I most like about this is that there isn't a pattern, each finger has a different articulation system than the others, as if it was built with a lot of improvisation, with what the builder had available.

yer, i didn't wanna use the same thing twice, so I looked at a lot of mechanical/joint pictures and made it up as I drew them... thanx
