Description A Chinese-style sumi-e ink painting on Japanese rice paper. An experiment of sorts...it came out okay.

Oh I love these style paintings. You've carried it off very nicely as well - well done.

I think it came out quite well. I've been trying my hand at Asian style painting but thus far I'm not doing anything spectacular. Of course If I did it more I might improve. I'm still trying to figure out the ink. I like the overall simplicity of it, with just the black-to-white sort of colouring.

I have to say the Japanese sumi-e style is definitely my favorite of all painting styles I have a book that teaches me the styles and I'm still learning!

I should have a look around . My dad got me a book on Chinese techniques while I was in hospital. He thought it would be more interesting than acrylic and that's been my introduction to the Asian styles.

Hehe, it would need a bit of pressing before it could be framed etc. ...rice paper tends to buckle. A lot. However, originals are always up for grabs if a good enough price is offered.

Normally, I'd jump at the chance but I'm tapped financially from just buying a house. If you still have the piece in a few months, we'll figure something out. So if I did get it, I'd have to press it for a really long time before I could frame it? Interesting...

Best,
Adam

Actually I'm pressing it right now. It should be flat in a couple of days, minus a couple wrinkles that are characteristic of rice paper.

Glad there's someone (who would know how a painting like that SHOULD look) who likes it!
