Description
After a little research I managed to trace the zodiac back to the first recorded civilizations.Capricorn represented mans' rights over animals of the land and of the sea; the goat and the fish. It's holding it's own horns because it's purpose is to be sacrificed. It's hermaphroditic and multi limbed to add to the deity feel. It's backed by Mesopotamian cuneiform (probably someone's record of how many oxen he sold that year or some such mundane thing). The knife is Sumerian and I'm not sure if it's actually ceremonial and/or sacrificial (although since it has a fuller it's obviously intended for use in animals/people).

Very interesting. the extra arms are a bit strange to me, but it's a very nice piece. *btw, Cuneiform was the first type of writing. It was made by pressing long stone "pencils" (they didn't have lead or anything, but it was about the size of one) in the shape of an isosceles triangles into a clay tablet. The writing was very complex.
