Description Watercolor on 6 x 10 inch on coldpress watercolor paper. Used a 8 size round brush. Permament Rose and Burnt Umber were the colors used. This is done from a photo from 's gallery. You can see the one I'm working on here [link] Go take a peak, she's got an extensive gallery.

Did a little different than Pink Flowers 01 [link] Limited to two colors, only 3 tints of each. I tinted the whole paper with a light coat of pink. Permament Rose mixed with some Burst Umber makes a really deep red. Plus it has transparent qualities due to the paints I used to mix it. Always a plus with watercolor. I used that for the darkest pink/red color. Completed in 30 minutes. I put the brushstrokes on in a hurry, I let the texture of the paper make some white appear. I enjoyed the immeditacy, also I didn't have it hanging over my head to complete for days either. ^_^

Quite stunning. I think that it's amazing that you could get so much depth from just 2 colors. The light wash created a nice setting, I think. And your strokes are so simple and loose-looking but they look so much like flowers. A very elegant outcome, methinks.

This is gorgeous. I love the colours (being a pink afficionado and all...) and the strokes are beautiful and strong. The interplay between the hard-edged foreground and the soft, "washy" background is lovely.

Thank you for noticing all that stroke and edge detail of the colors. That is my favorite part.

Jyotii In reply to KelliRoos [2006-06-28 19:59:11 +0000 UTC]

Noo problem. I have a special place in my heart for stroke detail. People are always smudging things too much and never notice that strokes can ADD to a piece. Smudging is like the art world's equivalent of the little brother. Sometimes its awesome; most of the time, it's not.

KelliRoos In reply to Jyotii [2006-06-29 01:34:46 +0000 UTC]

I completely agree. I do smudge some works, but that is becuase I am not confident in my stroke at that point. I do strive to create that quality. Isn't always successful, but when it is, it's a gem.

Leftyfro-
I appreciate the watercolor resources you listed. As always, beautiful job on the watercolor, though you know I enjoy the uniqueness of your cartooning more. You are becoming very skilled in manipulating the sumi quality of your line and your skill with colors really blooms in the piece. Ha ha.

Thank you. I always really appreciate your feedback. Positive and negative. Both my watercolor and my cartooning feel like they're transitioning now. I think I see the path of my watercolor, but my cartooning is still murky right now. Comics are good, but I not sure that's where my heart is. It could be if I got tens of thousands of dollars to do that. But that won't happen without making a bunch of comics. We will see where y brush leads me, hopefully it'll take the left at Albequerque.

Every artist needs a peer to tell them when they aren't working up to potential or where they've gone off course. That is what i have always endeavored to do- in my hip, fresh, man-about-town style. I love your stuff. Even your sucky stuff, of which there is so very little lately.

This is beautiful. I love how gestural you've made the flowers, yet they're still very clearly what they are.

I'm impressed by the clarity you've managed using such limited colors. I like how you continued the pink into the background too; it gives a much softer feel to the whole piece.

Well done!
