This is a female cardinal in winter. These hardy birds stick around my house in Illinois after most birds have migrated, and they add a lovely burst of color to the bleak landscape.Related content

Your bark is fantastic. I really like the juxtaposition of the sharp shapes and cool colours of the bark and the softness and warm tones of the cardinal's feathers.
