I took an illustration class last semester and my teacher challenged me to do one thing -- do something I'm uncomfortable with: backgrounds.
As terrified as I was, I actually really enjoyed it and am really happy with how the concept turned out. I wanted to do a more concept-art style painting, and decided to depict the pilgrimage of this little line wanderer, 'Red', as she ventures out into the Big Unknown, visiting all these otherworldly environments and places. It was really fun to do this little series, and I'd really like to continue it.

Wow! I really love how you did the trees and I absolutely adore the way the cloak twists though the trees. Also, the way the outline of the birch trees changes colors looks wonderful.

Little Red Riding Hood goes down to the woods today and Mr Fox is probably in for a big surprise! This is amazing! You are very good at backgrounds, the picture is mysterious, colourful, surreal and invites the watcher in wanting to know more - job done! Please continue along your uncomfortable path which hopefully will get easier as you travel further along!
