Description ~Drossel Rigging Comish~

A figure I have been rigging for a commission in the last couple of days. Poor model was in pretty bad shape, with all sorts of broken geometry, messed up materials, and crooked joints. The hands were so bad I had to remodel them. I thought I would spend the whole weekend on this, but it comes down the Poser Pro 2012 "Setup Room" was quite stable and didn't crash a single time. I have also added IK chains to the legs, arms, and to two the head extensions.

Still have some work to do on the geometry, but she's already posing well by now. I wasn't told who modeled it. Hope you like it and thanks for coming by!

In this one I was commissioned to create the character rigging, so it could be posed and animated. I actually don't know who modeled it.

A shame that this wont be released for Poser, even as a freebie :<

I don't know if it will or not - it's not my model. I am just doing my part in this commission. ^^

Was this given to you as an OBJ...?

By the way it looks awesome man, good job!

Thank you! They attempted to use Auto-Rig but that basically destroyed the model. Then I was commissioned to have it fixed. ^^

Well you did an awesome job man!

Can you rig an obj?

Well, of course - all Poser figures are OBJs.

Well my question is if one can make a pose able 3d model from an obj file...? :S

Yes you can. That is called "character setup", or just "rigging".

robots always seem to be a fav for me to work on... since i delete the twistx,y,z anyway!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to DarksealStudios [2012-01-09 09:24:21 +0000 UTC]

Well, some joints need the twist dial, especially on robots. ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DarksealStudios In reply to ken1171 [2012-01-10 04:12:01 +0000 UTC]

no, no... not the twist dial... the twistx head to twistx eye for example... editing in the cr2, making sure the bends don't effect each other... I would rather do that then to adjust falloffs. Alls I was say'n.

ken1171 In reply to DarksealStudios [2012-01-10 09:32:09 +0000 UTC]

But robots don't have falloffs...

Great job on rigging so far. If you hadn't said that there were some geometry issues, I wouldn't have guessed. Is there anything you can't do well in this area?

Thanks for sharing your work & inspiring me to do something with robots today.

I would really like to model a human figure, but in the end I always chicken out.

That's funny...chickening out is what I always do as well.

I bet you could pull it off, though. You have amazing skills & put them to good use. I look forward to seeing the human you model! Well...human...catgirl...whatever.

I really like this figure, some time ago I have used it to learn better how to draw the joints. Great work! ^^
