She's worse than the bane of tanks. She mowed down two of my lancers and an engineer on her rush to the fortress I was attacking. I'm calling it a fortress because that's what that tank was!

Let it not be said that Selvaria suffers from "Gameplay and Story Segregation ", for she stomps serious face in cutscenes and damn well crushes untold amounts of ass in gameplay if you let her.

Then you, sir, I'm sorry to say, have been missing out. The game is miles better than the anime in virtually every aspect, especially the story.
I agree with most VC fans in saying that the anime didn't do a very good job of telling the game's story (just in case you didn't know, the first VC game predates the anime), it took some unnecessary liberties and lost way too much time on side details compared to the game... also it murdered Vyse, which is not cool.
If you can't buy the game, at least watch a walkthrough on Youtube, it will be totally worth your time. ;D

If you do decide to watch a walkthrough, I suggest this one (it's still incomplete, but it contains HELLOWEEN4545 (a.k.a. WIN! RAW, PURE WIN!) 
Both leave the story (a.k.a. the bit that matters the most) wholy intact, but both go for an "All-A Rank" run, meaning the gameplay won't reflect the game's actual fun factor (Helloween actually goes into great detail sometimes on how the way he plays is not proper way to play if you're in it for the fun and how he'd rather take his time rather that spped through like he does).
Personally, I recommend watching Helloween's walkthrough (purely for his commentary, it's that good, trust me
