The characters are my OCs Rocky, and her mother Quagmire.

They have always had a bit of a tense relationship. Quagmire loves Rocky and wants to show it, but she never really knows how. A part of her thinks Rocky will be stronger if she’s harder on her.
Quagmire’s siblings separated after the war, and she misses them dearly. Her husband, Spike, left her and Rocky to return to the Sandkingdom when Rocky was just a few months old.
A deep bitterness has embedded itself in Quagmire, and she can feel it pushing her daughter away. They rarely speak to each other anymore.

Cotinga, Rocky’s best friend, is going on a trip to the Rainforest. It’s not too far away, and only for a couple of days, so Rocky asks her mom if she can go too. Quagmire refuses to let her go, saying Rocky isn’t responsible enough to be away for that long. And plus, the Nightwing live in the Rainforest. Nightwings are never to be trusted.

Rocky presses her, saying that she’ll be with Cotinga, it’s not far away, why won’t you let me do anything..
Quagmire, furious, growls that Rocky is never grateful. She says she won’t let Rocky out of her sight for as long as she’s still a dragonet. “It’s for your own good,” she says.

“Mother knows best.”
