Yep, shading is evil but is a good part of the picture. Once you got the hang of it however, it would only be a stepping stone.

Can't sleep? Try these steps:
1. Take a frying pan;
2. Apply to the head at high speed;
3. Prepare to softly land on the ground (or a bed depending on where you are standing).
XD Found something like that somewhere on the web I think. Don't remember the speed but I think it went like 60 miles/sec.
Night shading, eh? Well, those are usually darker color too...

Ya, I was watching Spirit, the movie about the horse like 500 times and learned some nice shading styles to test out and it turned out lovely.
