Built the giant tank-RV-mobile lab model in Sketchup. Outside of a few minor details, I did everything from scratch – tank treads and all. I wanted sort of a blocky look to the vehicle, to give it that retro-futurist touch, but without being over the top. I hope I captured that! Everything else was painted.
I’ve had this story (or at least setting) in the back of my mind for a couple of years now, and I am excited to, at the very least, do a piece for it.

I find this to be one of these illustrations where you can find new details each time you look at it.
And the scene itself is beautiful: it makes me wish there were more modern fantasy(urban fantasy?) works like this; where the existence of supernatural or mythological beings is not a secret that must be kept at all costs, but something acknowledged by most part of society.
I think there would be much room for interesting scenarios and plots to arise in such a setting.
