Description Filled answers to my own meme for those you want to what are my favorites. And for those you know about some of these figures, I'll give a brief description/origin of them.

25. *Genie/Djinn: Despite them being the same thing, they are actually different. A djinn is actually an evil-type of genie that can kill/destroy anyone or anything that try to challenge them, and even posses the body human the human that released it to use as a puppet. Genies are mostly on the good side and givers of desires.
Nowadays, genies are getting the short end of the stick of granting wishes, because in most media the person is only limited to three wishes...and most of them either are stupid choices or go horribly wrong; when in the original tale of "Aladdin," genie wishes are actually unlimited as that of fairies, and it's the leprechauns that only grant 3 wishes. -_-; At least the female genies are highly appreciated, despite mostly being fan-service.

24. *Leviathan: Whether they portrayed as sea dragons/serpents, ugly whales, a giant octopus, or an ancient species of the Prehistorical era that is still living; The leviathan is one the first sea monsters people thought that inhabited the seas before discovering new lands. One of my favorite designs of this creature would be the giant mecha-sea scorpion that was used in Disney's "Atlantis: The Lost Empire."

23. *Manticore: One of Greek's most famous and fearsome creatures that is said to have the body of a lion, wings of a bat or a bird, horns of a demon, and a tail of a scorpion. Some say that it also has a face of a man as well, but either way how one portrays it, it still looks like a lion's face to me.

22. *Griffon: Half eagle, half lion, what's not to like the design. Though the most current portrayal of a griffon is Gilda from "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic," and she isn't very well liked (since she did a crime that is worse than kicking a puppy or a kitten)...

21. * Faun/Satyr : Like genies and djinns, there's also a difference between a faun and a saytr. Fauns are usually the bringers of Spring and they play beautiful melodies on their wooden flutes to wake up the sleeping animals and make the plants bloom.
Saytrs love to play music as well, but they mostly yodel and like to fool around more than the busy fauns.

20. *Gargoyle: Hard too believe that these things are suppose to warn off evil spirits when they don't look too friendly themselves, than again looks can be deceiving. If they can come to life at night or when not too many people are around, wonder what they would be like...O_O

19. *Sasquatch/Bigfoot/Yeti : No matter what you call them, people are still trying to search for this hairy man-like thing for who knows how long.
If they are real, it's best to leave them along, or don't capture them on film because they say that they are heavily camera-shy.

Though people on the Animal Planet show, "Finding Bigfoot," are just wasting their time. They are not gonna find bigfoot, and most of the stories the towns folk are telling them are just a way to get themselves on TV.

18. *Lochness Monster: I assume that you're also familiar with this one. Like Bigfoot, many people try to catch her on film and camera, but most of the pictures mostly turned out to be something else (a log, a swimming elephant, or submarine).
Real or not, I'm proud to have Irish and Scottish roots because my ancestors used to roam where Nessie is.

17. *Kitsune aka The Fox of Nine Tails: Japanese legendary fire fox that is said to bring great things to one who touches one it's tails, and it's beautiful.*-*

16. *Phoenix: What's not to like about this fire bird? It's graceful, mysterious, and it possesses many different powers to heal wounds and revive the sick.
And once it dies, it just renew itself in their ashes as a cute little chick.^^

15. *Rakshasa: Known or unknown to those who are furries or just into mythology, the Rakshasas are anthropomorphic big cats that are mostly portrayed as warriors and guardians, and they also act a lot like any house cats (gentle to those that are friendly, and dangerous to those that harm/threaten them).
The most famous Rakshasas are mostly tigers (like this big fella in the picture) and tigresses.

14. *Elf: Those pointy ears!*w* My most favorite portrayal of elves are defiantly are the toy-making ones, the cookie-baking ones , the royalties, and the warriors.

13. *Fairies: Granting wishes or balancing the elements, each fairy is unique in their own way.

12. *Sylph: This may just look like a picture of clouds, but look real closely at them and see if you can see of what looks like people? If you do, those are what people think are sylphs.
Sylphs (especially the males) are considered to be one of the biggest flirts in mythology, some say the only rival for them are the cherubs.

11. *Pegasus: Other than being a flying horse, the origin of Pegasus is as fascinating as the horse itself. Legend says that Pegasus was born from the blood of Medusa after Pericius cut her head off, it's also a metaphor for Medusa's inner purity being set free after being a gorgon (Medusa was a human back then, until a jealous goddess turned her into a gorgon).

10. *Unicorns: These ponies are not just a favorite mythical animal to little girls and bronies, they are also known to be the purest of all creatures (the unicorns from "Regular Show" and "Charlie Unicorn" don't count nor deserve to be called unicorns ).
They say that if you a real unicorn, you've got yourself a pure heart. Even though you can't see their signature horns (as said in "The Last Unicorn" ), how one can tell an unicorn from a regular horse is by the whiteness of their mane and tail (most white horses just have bleach-blond/light gray manes and tails).

09. *Chupacabra: Unlike Bigfoot and Nessie, people had actually witness the legendary blood-sucker in person. It's not like the reptilian alien most people thought it was, it's actually a hairless marsupial-legged canine. Even if they suck on the blood of the live-stock (goats, sheep, cows, chickens, etc.), I feel sorry for those poor things because there is something else killing them. Whether they are real chupacabras, or hairless dogs, I still feel sorry for them.

08. *Pixies: The tiny, yet mischievous cousins of imps and fairies. Cute but hyper and have a mouth full of sharp teeth, pixies are more harder to catch than fireflies.

07. *Wisps: If you hear a whimsical hum echoing through the forest, that's the melody of the wisps. Most notable ones are seen in Pixar's "Brave" and "Sonic Colors."
Aren't they cute? ^^

06. *Merfolk: Wonder what would it be like to live underwater? That's one of the reasons why people love mermaids and mermen.
Though not everything people say about them is good. Some say that lure lonely (and h*rny) sailors to their deaths by dragging them into the water; and they are also extremely jealous when they see a human woman that's prettier than they are, and they drowned the women to kill them and/or absorb the woman's beauty essences.
Today the scientists say that they found some body parts of real merfolk, but they not like what most people expected. Instead that say they look something like this latimesblogs.latimes.com/showt… (sorry guys)

05. *Dragons: I like how many varieties of dragons are illustrated, and have different many legends of each of them.

04. *Gremlin: Whether it be the gremlins that were what caused many airplane failures, or a franchise that started so many spoofs and parodies of it (started off as cute pets, started to multiply, and eventually turned into hideous monsters); Both of kinds are destructive for evil doings or for avenge those you harmed them or their homes.Either way, they are freedom fighters and I respect that.

03. *Bunyip: Legend has it in Australia, there lived a monster that lives in the murky swamps who's appearances were so hideous and terrifying, the Natives swore that they most not illustrate or speak of it ever again or it'll come back and kill them. But that still didn't stopped many people for trying to illustrate the beast.
And the most famous design of the Bunyip is said to have long droopy ears, a pair of small horns on top it's head, webbed fingers, sharp claws, a snout similar to a kangaroo's, four sharped fangs, and a tail covered with fur and scales.
These days the bunyip is imaged as a more docile and peaceful animal, but if anyone shows any disrespect of it's swamp home, they'll make the person suffer the consequences..

02. *Kappa: Known to the Japanese culture as "man of the river," they are more human than the river creatures they represent (a turtle with frog-like skin). They are either a representation of fortune & wisdom, or practical pranksters.
However most their prank are involved with water and/or human females (and some even act the some way almost every guy is around women they found alluring ).
The description of the Kappas in look and personality sound awfully a familiar....

01. *Imp: They may be mischievous, and getting into trouble for themselves and the people they are pestering. But they actually mean no harm, and they aren't actually demons. Imps are actually cousins of fairies, and happened to be devoted helpers and great philosophers. Looks can be deceiving even for these little guys, huh?

Actually Rakshasa is a mythological humanoid being or unrighteous spirit in Hinduism. In Malayan/Indonesian; Rakshasa or Raksasa means Giant.

Also, the Loch Ness monster's possible identity is either a giant Sturgeon or a Greenland Shark.

Have you heard of the Tanuki? They're based off of real Japanese animals that look like raccoons, but are more related to badgers, and in the mythology of the tanuki, they're playful shapeshifters that use leaves for magic. I've made a Kitsune and Tanuki OC duo along with a Yuki Onna OC.

Speaking of dragons, I'm currently working on a comic book/animated series about three highly-evolved females of an anthropomorphic species of said creatures who fight crime and evil in their hometown (somewhere in Maryland, maybe Baltimore). Once I get all my notes ready, Keshia, would you like me to send them to you?

I mermaids, fairies, The Loch Ness Monster, dragons, unicorns, satyrs, and imps!

But the whole "Sasquatch/Bigfoot" thing, to me, is a fake.

Excellent choices, though.

Nice list there. My understanding is that "Djinn" was the original entity, and just referred to a kind of "spirit being", and according to Islam, Satan is a Djinn, rather than a fallen angel (which he is in most forms of Christianity). I thought "genie" was just a corruption of "djinn", didn't know there was any distinction. I never heard of the Bunyip before. Ironic thing is that the "bunny" is despised in Australia because of what damage they do to local wildlife (hence the Rabbit Proof Fence). And you're right, your wisp is cute. I often think of Kappa as "water imp", but that's because a couple of Japanese video games had "kappa" translated as "imp" when they were translated. I heard that they generally have a depression in their head that has water, since they need it, and if it should spill, they're weakened. And with elves, there's many different types, because they're sometimes mixed up with other mythical beings....the "Santa's Elves", are also known as gnomes in some versions (or Gnomes of the North). And in French in Quebec, Santa's elves are called "Lutin", which was originally a different kind of mythical person in the Britany region of France.

And the Sasquatch and Yeti are actually different creatures, but very similar. Yeti, from Tibetan words meaning "rocky place bear", is from the Himalayas, and the Sasquatch, from some Halkomelem (a First nations group in British Columbia and Washington State) word sΓ‘sq’ets, is from western North America.
