I know a few people with names you wouldn't expect in an English-speaking country. But the people I know with a race-bending-name are mostly white.

There are girls in the Philippines bearing the name "Keiko" but they're not always Japanese.

My name is Erik, and I'm not Scandinavian. I look far from it too - I'm olive-skinned and dark-haired.

...Why would latinos name a kid Tequila?

It was actually Asian-Americans that named their daughter.
And I guess they name her that because they thought is sounded pretty.

Yeah, you're talking about Tila Tequila (that's not her real name btw) but Tequila is a beverage, not a hispanic name. So even if she was actually named Tequila, it'd be stupid not foreign.

Who would hate their child enough to name them "Tequila"?
That's a name given to someone who's destined to become a stripper.

Who is "they"?
"They" sound pretty stupid.

It all depends on your parents, right?
But although I like Japanese names, I'd never name my kids that. A far-out name like 'Hideki' can cause a kid a lot of trouble in a Canadian school.
