Though she doesn’t tend to follow the rules of the “system” except in cases where it might benefit herself, she’s true to her own actions and does make a fiercely loyal friend whenever she’s willing to let herself become that close to someone—she’s only had a few people that she’s ever considered real friends. She generally keeps her emotions to herself most of the time as well, preferring to keep some amount of cool distance when handling other people, but every now and then her emotions do get the better of her.

History: Frankie’s Ohana registration card may say that she’s from Slateport, but if you ask she’ll tell you that she’s from Castelia City where she was born and raised. Both of her parents are scientists, particularly interested in meteorology. She was always an extremely bright kid and it showed in her grades and habits—unfortunately this is not a desirable trait for a kid attending inner city public schools. She was often a target for bullies until she figured out that it was a better idea to hide her true traits. So she began to cultivate a carefully constructed mask, one that could hopefully throw off her tormenters and gain her a few friends. She cut her hair, bought new clothes, started using a nickname (“Frankenstein” stuck the best because of her parents’ occupations), and began to hang out with a radically different (and rather questionable) crowd. Her parents worried, but since she still maintained her grades and kept up with her extracurriculars they couldn’t say much. For the most part Frankie kept to herself and worked on practicing her painting, and most people were intimidated by her enough to leave her alone.

Not long before Frankie’s 18th birthday her parents received news of a new research opportunity in Hoenn connected to the Weather Institute, and when their grant proposal was approved the whole family moved to Slateport. While Slateport is still a fairly sizeable city for the region, it’s definitely no Castelia and Frankie quickly figured that out. Bored and restless once she finished school and realizing that her art was suffering for it, she tried her hand at training a few pokemon to keep herself occupied, then decided to give an actual tournament a try when she heard about Ohana.

Misc:
- Has a strong NYC-esque accent (leftover from growing up in Castelia).
- Wants to become a professional artist and usually carries a small sketchbook and a few pencils and paints around with her. Street art has quickly become her favorite medium.
- Has sound-color synesthesia and it was a major factor in her decision to become an artist. She finds her inspiration from music and the sounds around her, and is usually found wearing a pair of headphones and listening to something to drown out background noises that quickly become an annoying distraction.

She hadn’t planned on keeping him at first, knowing that the species was native to the route north of town, but the little fuzzball crawled into her coat pocket to look for crumbs and went to sleep so Frankie secretly didn’t have the heart to get rid of him. He’s out of his ball most of the time, perfectly content to perch on Frankie’s shoulder or nest in her pockets or hair. Usually he’s considered to be more of a pet than an actual battling team member.
Faraday is based on a chipmunk (with additional long ears).

Misc: The first pokemon that Frankie actually caught herself—she found him digging in the garbage can in the back yard as a Zigzagoon and tossed a pokeball at him for the hell of it because of his interesting coloring. For the most part he’s quite happy to keep digging in things that he’s not supposed to get into, and thankfully he’s tough enough to shake off whatever trouble might follow. He usually sleeps under Frankie’s bed at night, much to her annoyance whenever she forgets her earplugs because he snores like a rusty chainsaw.
Nevertheless, he’s her favorite battler with a very effective offensive strategy: he’ll often let himself be poisoned by the toxic orb that he holds to activate his ability and attack with Façade at full power, then toss the item at the opponent and finish it off.
Darwin is based on a honey badger and he don’t give a shit.

Misc: Bardeen actually belongs to Frankie’s parents as an aide for their research (usually used to give an energy boost or to repair inaccessible broken electrical connections), but he’s taken a liking to Frankie over the years (mostly for her music) so she was allowed to bring him along to Ohana. Her iPhone is where he can usually be found, and he has the annoying habit of randomly interrupting and switching songs when Frankie’s least expecting it, playing the more risqué tunes at full volume at the most inappropriate times or places, and occasionally making expensive overseas prank calls.

Misc: Smeargles are a rare sight in Hoenn, but it was always supposed that Daguerre was just an experienced hitchhiker and professional street mutt until Frankie found him wandering about the alleys in Slateport. Though the dog was skittish and sullen when she first met him she liked him well enough, especially when she found out about the species’ “artistic” habits. A careful regiment of sandwiches and gentle pats on the head eventually gained the dog’s trust, and even though Daguerre can still be a little snappish around strangers he’s as loyal as anything to Frankie and likes to help her paint when she’s out doing street work.
