Generally breezy, cheerful, and friendly, though she inherited the McClain hair-trigger explosive temper and that's not something that anybody wants to provoke. She has a wanderlust streak ten miles wide which means she's nearly constantly on the move which can make it difficult for her to keep friends sometimes, though thankfully she was also blessed with enough charisma that she has little trouble making them.

History:

Born in Fortree City, Hoenn to the McClain family, Kes displayed the family's restless thirst for adventure early in life. Her mother (a teacher) and father (a mechanic and occasionally inventor) encouraged this, and when the girl was on the cusp of 13 years old she set out with her newly-evolved Noctowl to kick-start a fledgling courier career. After traveling throughout Hoenn for a couple of years she moved on to Johto and Kanto, eventually taking on the Kanto gym challenge at age 17 with an eager, ragtag team of pokemon she'd collected. Though she did well at this endeavor, she disappeared from the battling scene altogether after taking on the Indigo League Champion. It's not generally known what happened there, it's not something she's willing to talk about if anyone asks.

She didn't step into the battling scene again until trying out for a smaller tournament several years later and though she didn't take it terribly seriously she made quite a few new friends, the best of which being a fellow named Dazy St. Haye. After they both flunked out of the competition they kept in touch, traveling together for some time and generally goofing off. The friendship developed into a brief but intense romance, which ended rather awkwardly and without any real closure when Dazy announced that he had to leave for an unknown amount of time. Kes was understandably upset by this, even more upset a couple of months later when she found out she was pregnant. She had no way of contacting Dazy with the news, but being the stubborn McClain that she is she decided that she could raise the kid just fine on her own anyway.

Kes stayed with her family in Fortree for a short time before and after Lizzie was born, but wanderlust soon reared its head and she set off again with baby daughter in tow, this time setting her sights on Unova. The pair spent most of their time in that region's vast central desert, striking up an unlikely friendship with several of the nomadic tribes there. Fairly recently Kes received word from Galahad Acharya, an old pen pal friend of hers she'd known since the early days of her adventures, about Verot being a particularly underserviced area in regards to the delivery business. Eager to take up the invitation to see a region she'd never visited before, she packed up her things and her toddler and flew out to set up shop in Verot. Her "home base" is technically in the Desert biome, but she can be found just about anywhere.

- When she was 15 she suffered a nasty seviper attack near Fallarbor Town that very nearly killed her. She survived, but she was left with a nasty pair of scars along her left shin and calf, a slight but noticeable permanent limp due to the resulting bone damage, and a lasting fear and loathing of all snakes.

- She has a knack for languages and is fluent in several, and conversational in quite a few more.

- Her own accent was originally Scottish (from her family), but through time and travel it's become rather warped and difficult to identify.

Born in Johto but tossed across the sea to northern Hoenn by a strong winter storm, Kes's father found him as a bedraggled hoothoot fledgling and nursed him back to health. The little guy ended up becoming fast friends with Kes, who was only 8 years old at the time, and ended up becoming her first official pokemon companion. He ended up growing to an astonishing size, standing easily twice the height or more than the pokedex-average noctowl, which makes him an ideal flying mount for Kes's business.

When he was finally in too bad of shape to perform properly anymore he was put on auction in a shady night market and that probably would've been the end if Kes hadn't happened to be there out of sheer curiosity. She dumped every cent she had from her pockets on the spot and led him away. Since then he's (quite willingly) been Kes's main ground transport whenever flying is impractical, proving to be especially helpful in desert areas.

Kes was more used to dealing with much bigger pokemon so she wasn't quite sure what to do with this fat yellow fuzzball when he rolled out of the shell, but she very quickly became attached anyway and he's gone with her everywhere since.
