Wow this tutorial was great! I have a few month of experience in Blender 3D v.5 if i remember, [link] it was for my gaming company that i was starting up a year or so ago (fell through), i also figured out how to make the most realistic grass in blender (almost killed my computer trying to render). The reason i stopped using blender was because it seemed to get to complicated and frustrating to make anything really cool. This seems much more manageable. But from what i have seen Blender models tend to look much better than with any other sculptor. That's just my own opinion though.

I really do appreciate this little beginner's tutorial. I managed to complete the mug, and I think it's gotten me off to a good start. I hope to find further tutorials in order to further my skills.

Thanks for this - I've been trying to teach myself Hexagon and I kept finding tutorials that assumed I already had knowledge which I didn't have (like the fact that I was going crazy trying to work out to just move and resize things...). This has really got me going properly on the basics.

I've been following your tutorial. Very interesting, however whenever I try the UV/Paint step, the program crashes. Suggestions?
thanks for the tutorial. Daz doesn't have anything up yet for the newest version of Hexagon.

I began using Bryce PLE and D/Studio a few months ago and recently took advantage of DAZ's very generous offer on the full version of those and Hexagon. This is easily the best intro level tutorial I have seen. And I've been through quite a few lately.
Great job! Feel free to substitute your reality for mine any time.

so you telling me this might also work for wings3D?

If you know enough about Wings3D to know how to find the various tools and what they do, you can probably follow along. Wings3D was very unstable on my old system, so I had to ditch it and haven't looked at it in a while.

At the time, I had a Pentium 4 with 2G of RAM. Anything over around 500-1000 polys would cause Wings to freeze up and crash. I haven't tried it on my new system since I have Hex now.

really? damn that sucks. so it can't handle that much resolution?

I don't know about texture resolution, it was poly count that killed it on my old system. And it could have been some conflict with my video card or some such thing, I haven't tested it on my new computer.

You're probably a bit beyond these tutorials, then. But maybe you'll pick up a helpful tip or two! Although, I doubt I'm much ahead of you if at all, I don't spend near the time with modeling that I probably should.
