Description Continuing my "Lovely Lady Mascots" we have the St. Pauli Girl of St. Pauli Girl Beer .

St Pauli Girl claims to be "Germany's Fun-Loving Beer" which is interesting since I don't know a single German person who actually drinks it (and a not insignificant portion of my family is of German descent so that's saying something). I don't really drink personally, but when I do I have to be hometown loyalist and reach for Natty Boh (that's National Bohemian for you out-of-towners). The Natty Boh Tower, with its famous neon sign, is within walking distance of my house, so...wait...I'm supposed to be talking about the St. Pauli Girl...

Umm...she's hot and she's German. I also hear she's wearing her hair down these days. There ya' go!

We're more than halfway done, folks. Next up! Little Debbie

The funny thing is: There's a controversal in this girl. Germany is famous for his beer, especially a state in the south of the country called Bavaria. Her dress is for sure inspiriated by the traditional dress there. But St. Pauli is a part of the city of Hamburg which is far in the north. Of course they like beer too there, but it's not that they are as famous for it like Munich (capitol of Bavaria). You know, it's a bit like if someone in Europa mixes Alaska and Florida and produces something like "Anchorage Oranges".

In Hamburg (where St. Pauli quarter is situated) everyone just drinks ASTRA beer

But there you go, stereotypes sell (particularly with a rack like that...)
I've recently been to our local brewery museum and they told us about a German beer that is ONLY for export, and which is deliberately laden with clichΓ©s in order to sell better overseas.
I think it sports 3 in the name alone

/Rage start/

I just looked up what this "St. Pauli Girl" Beer is about... Seriously I'm german and I've been to Bremen (the city where this beer - according to the website - comes from) and I never saw or heard of that beer. More important, St. Pauli is a quarter of Hamburg... which lies about one and a half hours with the car to the east of Bremen and most important, women in north germany do not wear dirdles (that weird dress that this girl is wearing). Acctually, only in the very very south of germany - and only there - are dresses like these worn (in Bavaria).

/Rage end/

Am I know part of your "A-Team"?

The Picture is very nicely done, I like the colorscheme, her joyous expression, the clean linework, but there is one thing ...

St. Pauli is a part of Hamburg, its at the german coast, up in the north, well that kind of dress is
worn in Bayern the very southern part in germany.

The soccerclub St. Pauli is especially known for its skull and bones flag and its rude but very enthusiastic fans.
So go tell the company, to dress her up like a pirate girl ^.^

Although my family didn't come from here, I was born, grew up and I am living in Germany and I am really proud of it. Sometimes you need some patience but if you look around carefully you'll find a lot of kind and funny people with which are laughing all the time. And if somebody doens't, I just make him laugh, it's that easy. You just have to learn how to deal with them.

And yeah, the people in St. Pauli are really fun-loving. I love the St. Pauli football club which recently entered the first league of the Bundesliga, because they have the best fans. They have some kind of rebel-like attitude and their "coat of arms" is some kind of pirate flag, a white skull on a black background.

And I'll admit, I've never drunk this St. Pauli beer. Dunno what is ought to be so special about it.

You know, when it comes to German beer associated with and brewed in St. Pauli (Hamburg's red-light-district), you just go with Astra. Good beer. Good. "St.Pauli Girl" isn't even directed at the German market.
Cheers!

You did a great job, really cool.

I'm amused that, if under 21, the St. Pauli Girl website links you to a site that campaigns against underage drinking, even if one is not planning on drinking the beer.

I have a few family ties who actually live in Germany, only one of them has ever heard of St. Pauli Girl, and he says it's flavored. And you drink Natty Boh? Ew. As a fellow Baltimorian, I must say, Natty Boh is made of Ick. It always gives me a terrible headache no matter how little I drink.

My mom's German and drinks it/uses it to make bread. Add her to the list of Germans who drink this. Besides, if it's fun-loving beer, naturally no GERMAN would be drinking it. Not a typical one, anyway.
