Actually, he's the protagonist (or perhaps antagonist?) from Alan Moore's other magnum opus, V for Vendetta.
Hopefully he doesn't try to blow up the nursery.
By the way, I'm not sure how you'd feel about the movie, but you really must read the graphic novel (for Watchmen, that is...though V for Vendetta is good too, just a bit dry).
