There is not one verse in the Bible that has been proven false. And you can be sure if there had been it would be known. One thing is certain and this goes without exception: every person who has ever lived with the ability to reason must believe in something. Or to put it another way you must have faith in something. Even if it is nothing, that is something to believe in. You have put your faith in nothing if thatβs what you believe. And whatever you put your faith in you put it in by your own choice. No one can make you believe anything. You believe what you want to believe.

Good job, fellow Christians, for not being.... mean. So far there aren't any trolls on this comment thread yet, which makes things a little easier. But I admire the way some of you are able to explain things without being snooty about it or having a superiority complex about it.

So God created me, allowed me to be given free will, and then if I don't do exactly what he wants me to do like the perfect little slave I'm created to be, I get sent to suffer for all eternity. But it's okay cause God loves everyone right? That's a pretty fucked up definition of love right there.

No, I'm not an atheist. If anything, I'd consider myself an agnostic, because I believe that there are things that we will never be able to know. You can't prove God, yet you can't disprove God. I'd consider myself to have a very mild bit of spirituality. But I just don't believe in religion because, the way I see it, "Holy Texts" are not divine in any way, shape, or form. They are written by human beings, like you and I, and basically have their views on morality written inside it. For example, people used the Bible to justify massive wars in which millions have died, as well as slavery back in those days. Since it's literally impossible to know the Truth, how could these people, 2000 years ago, with such less information about the universe than us (they didn't even know the Sun was the center of the solar system), how the hell would they know how the universe was created?
We don't know the Truth today, despite our major advances in science and technology, and I'm more than willing to bet humans won't know the Truth 1000 years from now, either. I don't know if there's an afterlife or not, but I don't believe that if there is one, we need to follow some specific religion or follow a specific God to enter it. There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of religions invented by humans, all claiming to be the "one true way". How is someone supposed to know which one is right?

So God loves us, but refuses to make his presence known in any way, shape, or form. And the only "evidence" we have to go by in a ridiculous book ridden with contradictions. And if we don't believe that book which was obviously written by humans, then we get sent to suffer eternally.

I'd actually say miracles are the main source of evidence that keeps people going, if it was just the bible, Christianity would indeed be pretty hard to believe.
In a world where even with our science we believe in things that we cannot see nor detect but know exists in some way because it must, it's important to not over simplify things.
