Revision 4/24/08: I have finally decided to move this from scraps to my regular gallery. This is also a new scan of the drawing. Please no heavy critiquing as I know it really doesn't look like Natalie! The reference came from an Amidala website. Currently a picture like this is on Star Wars: Fit for a Queen I believe.Original comment:
I absolutely love this costume! Unfortunately when I attempted to draw it I failed to achieve Natalie Portman's likeness. I did like the way I drew the jewel headpiece, but the rest was a disappointment. I still wish to share it with you folks as it did take several hours to draw!

Honestly I think it is a pretty close likeness to her. The eyes seem to be a smidgen to close together though IMO. Also the focus of the eyes makes it look a bit cross-eyed looking. (too me anyways) I really like the attention to detail. The costume is awesome. I really like this picture. Thanks for sharing.

Man you should know that an artist has their own artistic license and it is much better to give little differences in a picture to give it your own characteristics.
"The artist is their own worst critic"
Wonderful job and I automatically knew who it was. Maybe if I was madly in love with the character I would notice any flaws or differences but just seeing the finished product you did a wonderful capture of the subject. And yes i love the detail of the jewelry too. Fabulous work!

OMG...WHY is this not in your gallery?!? There's not a ghost of a question as to who this is--with this face, and this costume, it can only be Queen Amidala--and the fabulous detailing in this deserves to be showcased in and of itself! I personally see Portman's likeness as very well done here (here she's wearing the "Queen Face," so she looks a bit more stern than we're used to seeing, that's all!), and the contrasts and light are so beautifully expressed...my God, the details...

Its a very very good attempt.
Im an ammateur so me seeing this drawing, im amazed by what you've done anyway.
Peoples faces are very hard to make look like the actual person you're drawing, but my point is your drawing amazes me with its brilliance as it is.
Some of the art work ive seen on DA makes mine look like a 5 year olds scribble, if i could draw to your standard i'd be really proud and i think you should be to. Its a great piece of work.
Also if you decided to re-draw it at some point in the future, im sure you'd get it looking more like Natalie Portman. So dont give up on it ok x

"fail" is a big word. Not your fault if Portman was not looking like herself on the reference pic!

She's instantly recognisable as Natalie! The eyes are a little bit too close to each other, but other than that, perfect!

It doesn't exactly look like Natalie Portman, you're right. But it's a very beautiful drawing none the less and I think it's way to good for being in scraps!

It doesn't matter if you have not captured N. portman's likeness....your drawing is perfect in details ...I think that each work we do is important for what it gives us during its making, not only for the final result.
Anyway, your work is eccellent I like it a lot !!!

Isn't it funny how hard we can be on ourselves? Take another look at this 'disappointment.'
There is actually no doubt who it is. The quality of artwork is up to your usual excellent standard. It's an incredibly complex picture to attempt and you have produce a wonderful drawing.
On the other hand I know myself how frustrating it is when the vision in my head doesn't match the product on the paper, so I can't make you see something in this that you don't feel is there.
Then again I'm biased when it comes to your work! I love it as usual!
