Day 19: Scorched

Based on Old Norse for ‘to shrivel up” ("skorpna") which would become the Middle English word for “to make dry” (“scorchen”)

Artist’s Note: This is probably one of my favorite weapon designs so far this month, and to think that this is something I just came up with. While the title of the blade may seem to reference a certain military strategy, it really doesn’t and the blade, in fact, probably does the opposite.

Concept: Skorpna is a powerful blade forged from within the heart of an active volcano. It’s power is nearly unprecedented in its universe, but such power often comes with a cost. The blade emits tremendous heat energy that can often burn flesh or even render its user to ashes. Tremendous will is needed to allow a warrior to use the large blade to its true potential.
