Overcast: ........ n-no?
Rainbow: Well you better get ready! It's destroy or get destroyed out there. This is HOOFBALL.
Soarin: Uh, flag hoofball, actually.
Rainbow: Oh whatever, the flag part is just a suggestion.
Soarin: It's... really not.
Sunset: Rainbow! Soarin!
Rainbow: Oh hey, Sunset! What're you doing here?
Sunset: I'm here for the flag hoofball game. Little Sunshine here's gonna play!
Sunshine: Do I have to? I'd rather be at Canterlot with Mama doing princess stuff...
Sunset: Yes, Sunny. Sports are good! You'll learn about teamwork and get big and strong and it's also just really fun!
Rainbow: Huh, I see Sunshine's on the opposite team! Better watch out for this one! *pulls Overcast close to her* She's a killer on the field.
Overcast: I am?
Sunset: Oh.... cool.... *turns, grabs Sunshine's face and whispers to him* Sun, if she's coming towards you, you RUN.
Sunshine: w-wha
Sunset: YOU. RUN. FOR YOUR LIFE. She will END YOU if she's anything like Rainbow.
Sunshine: I'm less sold on this sports thing than I was initially.
Sunset: Let's go in shall we?

Overcast: *nods*
Rainbow: SHOW NO WEAKNESS! PILE DRIVE THROUGH THEM!
Overcast: *rolls eyes*
Rainbow: DON'T ROLL YOUR EYES AT ME YOUNG LADY I CAN SEE YOU FROM HERE.
The whistle blows and Overcast is passed the ball. Being as athletic as she is, she gets past her opponents with ease. All except one rather large filly, with blonde hair who goes by the name Honey Crisp. Overcast narrowly dodges her with a spin but before she knows it, she's face to face with the very, very tiny, scared and frail Sunshine. Like real tiny. Not wanting to decimate the small boy, Overcast quickly turns. She avoids crashing into him but she does still bump him over.
Sunshine: OW! OWOWOWOWOWOW!
Sunset: Sunshine!
Overcast: *stops running and looks behind her* Oh no!
Rainbow: I– what the– CASS HE'S FINE KEEP GOING YOU'RE SO CLOSE. NONONONO PLEASEKEEPGOINGTHETOUCHDOWNISRIGHTAAAAannd she's turning around. Great.
Overcast: *drops the ball and runs over to Sunshine* Are you okay?
Sunshine: *sniffles* My hoof. It hurts, it hurts, it hurts! *tears begin welling in his eyes*
Overcast: Oh no, shhhh it's alright! Princesses are tough you know! No need to cry. I can help.
Sunshine: *stops fussing* Y-yeah?
Overcast: Yeah... um.... *picks up Sunshine's flag and wraps it around his hoof* See? Feel better?
Sunshine: I... I DO! Wow thank you, Overcast!
Overcast: No problem!
???: Whoa are you alright kid? You sure did.... get.... tipped over.
Sunshine: Yes I'm just fine Nurse Amber. Overcast did your job for you.
Amber: Huh, that she did. Not bad, Miss Overcast. Methinks you got a future in this kinda thing.
Overcast: Really? Thank you!

Overcast: *walks over to her parents* Hey mom, I'm sorry I didn't get that touchdown I–
Rainbow: Hey no worries, kiddo. Whatcha did back there was very cool. The only thing better than winning sports is good sportsmanship.
Overcast: So... you're not disappointed?
Rainbow: Eeeeeeeeeeh well I wouldn't say "nooooot" disappointed.
Soarin: *nudges Rainbow*
Rainbow: I'm kidding! You made me real proud today, Cass. For real.
Overcast: *smiles*
Applejack: Good game today, Overcast!
Overcast: Thank you Mrs. AJ! And good job to you, Honey Crisp. You almost got me in that last play.
Honey Crisp: *nods and smiles shyly*
Applejack: Y'all did a great job and all but ah, Rainbow. About that bet...
Rainbow: ....... *mumbles and throws some bits at Applejack*
Soarin: Dash...... did you.... bet on our child winning hoofball today?
Rainbow: NO......................................................................................... well like.... only a little.
Overcast: *shakes head and smirks* Disappointed.

Awesome next gen art as always. You haven’t lost your touch. Through you look back the old next gen with cringe your ability to write good interactions between characters is what really made your Next Gen special, on top of best grump princess and her chef pony...StarDel will never die!
But on to this special ocassion. Soccer mom Dash is such a fun idea, especially since Overcast appears to take more from cool daddy Soarin than hotheaded Rainbow. And of course would be ‘that’ parent to compete with others through their foal. Bet she and AJ set up race courses for their kids the minute they could crawl. Sunset was well done realizing that one doesn’t compete against a Dash without an escape plan, though I’d think she probably get a bit more angry and in Dash’s face for getting her sweet lil babeh boi hurt. Then again she could have mellowed. Sunshine is such a cutie and Overcast was such a sweetie, both deserve hugs and ice cream. Maybe through some sports training with Overcast, the lil Prince can learn to toughen up. And perhaps some Sun can Shine through the Overcast
