Your take on him is awesome and if we could go back in time right now, you could show Hongo and Toei this pic.

I remember when my brother and I were kids watching season 2 and Angemon and Ankylomon were finally about to DNA digivolve. We were on the edge of our seats muttering in anticipation and when Shakkoumon revealed itself we both yelled out in disgust,"WHAT THE?!?!?!" THIS is what Shakkoumon should've been!!!

I do like your design, which is pretty nice looking, but I would prefer him as a separate individual and here are my reasons why.
You have a similar opinion to a lot of people that don't understand three key points when referring to this Digimon:
1) What Shakkoumon is.
Digimon tend to be a references to something, an animal, a myth, something in popular culture, other Digimon, &c.
In Shakkoumon's case, he's a reference to the ShakΕkidogΕ« (the name Shakkou is a very slight corruption of Shakou a more common romanisation for ShakΕ). And in fact, Shakkoumon looks almost exactly like a ShakΕkidogΕ«.
ShakΕki means "light-obscuring device", and dogΕ« means "earthen figure". So a ShakΕkidogΕ« is a clay figurine with special goggles that block out light. More specifically, it is a clay figurine from prehistoric times in Japan that was said to ward off evil.
Shakkoumon himself was a Mutant Digimon also said to be an Angellic Digimon who (like Lucemon) decended upon the Digital World in ancient times (maybe to defeat some evil, or bring harmony with his powers?) and was revived again in recent times. He is very gentle, but has no blind spots, is unpredictable, can rotate his neck and torso in a full circle, and seems to have the power of the Four Souls (that make an intact soul).
Like I said, I really like your Digimon's design, and it would make for a neat Fusion of Angemon and Ankylomon Personally though, I don't think the name Shakkoumon fits as well on this Digimon model.
2) Jogress in 02 was not Fusion (at least not the same type as DBZ Potara style Fusion).
This point is hard to get across because so many of the more famous Jogresses seemed like they were Fusions, but I assure you, taking the franchise as a whole, Jogresses barely tend to look like Fusions.
Jogress is much older than 02 or even Our War Game. Originally when the Final level (dubbed Mega) came out, if you weren't a Vaccine Digimon, Jogress was the only way to evolve so far. Besides that Jogress was used to get slightly more powerful Perfect level Digimon in the Pendulums.
This wasn't a very specific process for the most part, and used simple rules. Jogress always goes up one level higher than the younger Digimon. Two of the same attribute make the same attribute. Data attribute is always recessive. Vaccine and Virus cancel out to make Data. Two Digimon in the same position (in the evolution chart) can't Jogress. And lastly they must be the same level unless you're Jogressing to Perfect, both Digimon are the same attribute and the Perfect level Digimon is Jogressed. (In this last case, the Jogressed Perfect requirment Digimon stayed the same.)
Early Jogresses include*:
- Jyagamon
- Angewomon
- Piximon
- ShogunGekomon
- SaberLeomon
- MetalEtemon
- Whamon Perfect
- Anomalocarimon
- Dagomon
- MetalSeadramon
- Pukumon
*Dub names are used in this list because it contains some rare Digimon, unless if the name conflicts with the original. (E.g.: Perfect is preferred to "Ultimate", Anomalocarimon to "Scorpiomon")
These eleven Digimon are from the first three known sources of Jogress (Pendulums 1.0, 2.0 and 1.5). They are all Jogresses and none of them look the least bit like fusions.
Jogress from its very beginning and up until Digimon World 3 was released, was mostly used as another system for evolve that had two Digimon as its requirements instead of two. What this means is that instead of Fusing, the two Digimon simply evolve together.
Something interesting to note is that the Pendulums all had 2 results per Digimon. The first source to have 1 result per Digimon is actually the card game, and for technical reasons (you can only have one Digimon out at a time), which would make 2 result Jogresses kind of awkward. The card game is also more specific as to who can Jogress.
In a Pendulum for example, if you had Tailmon (Pen1.5) and Wizarmon (Pen3.0), and they Jogressed, the result is Tailmon evolves into AngeWomon and Wizarmon evolves into Were Garurumon.
Note the terminology, the two Digimon Jogress together but each evolve into a separate Digimon.
Then came the Pendulum Zero. The Pendulum Zero was pretty much a "third edition" to Pendulum 5, but had some Digimon from Pendulum 1.5 (notibly Tailmon and AngeWomon), some from Pendulums 3.x (Garurumon and Were Garurumon) and Metal Mamemon from Digital Monster 2.
In the Pendulum Zero, we have one more Digimon than usual, and that Digimon is Omegamon who is the Jogress of War Greymon and Metal Garurumon. Now Omegamon broke the last rule of Jogress, "they must be the same level unless you're Jogressing to Perfect, both Digimon are the same attribute and the Perfect level Digimon is Jogressed," because it was a Jogress to Final and both requirement Digimon were Final Level, plus War Greymon was Vaccine and Metal Garurumon, Data. (You still got two Omegamon though lol.)
The card game had a special name for this type of Jogress and that name is "Fusion", all other Jogresses (where the Digimon changed level during Jogress) were classified as special Evolutions.
Now we get to Digimon Adventure 02. One of the biggest changes in 02 from Digimon Adventure was the change from using Crests for Super Evolution to using DigiMentals for Armour Evolution.
Back to Digimon Adventure for a minute. Digimon need to train to evolve and they need to train especially hard to Super Evolve from their Adult stage to their Perfection stage. In fact, Digimon tend to die before they get further than their Adult stage.
(A normal Metal Empire-family, Vaccine-attributed Metal Greymon's evolution requirements are Greymon or Revolmon with 2 or fewer missed care calls, 30 battles with a Win Ratio of 40% and having trained successfully for 40 hours. More is better.)
It would've been boring to watch this for 8 Digimon, so for that and other reasons, the Crests were used to bypass these requirements.
The 02 Chosen Children didn't have Crests (except for Ken?). So in order to Super Evolve, they used another method and that method was Jogress. Here Jogress is used as a bypass like the Crests*, instead of a requirement as it is in the Pendulums. This is a rather simple way of thinking of it, but it predicts that XV-mon would've naturally can evolve into Piledramon without Jogress, Aquilamon into Silphymon without Jogress and Ankylomon into Shakkoumon without Jogress, and that if they indeed can, then Stingmon, Tailmon and Angemon should also have evolutions, with optional Jogresses.
*That is to say, the same way that Crests are used to channel energy into a Digimon to make it evolve, Jogress is used to channel another Digimon's energy into a Digimon to make it evolve.
Now there's a series of canon video games that start with the Chosen Children being kidnapped by Millenniumon (spoiler: the guy who released Apocalymon from the Wall of Fire), explains a bit of Ken's history and ends up with the protagonist Akiyama Ryo in the Tamer's universe.
The last of those games, Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer meets these predictions, XV-mon evolves into Piledramon, Aquilamon into Silphymon and Ankylomon into Shakkoumon. No Jogress is required. And because Ryo is a Tamer, he can actually meet evolution requirements by training and fighting.
(I hope that this makes less people complain about Angemon. I've noticed more people tend to be angry that Shakkoumon is a Jogress of Angemon rather than an evolution of Ankylomon. And even your own drawing seems to have more Angemon as the base for what is and should be Ankylomon's direct evolution.)
The second prediction of this idea is that the secondary Digimon in each Jogress have their own evolutions, Jogress optional. We already know Tailmon has AngeWomon and Angemon has Holy Angemon. What does Stingmon have? We turn to the D-3 toys for that answer.
In D-3 Ver 1, if you Jogress XV-mon and Stingmon, XV-mon evolves into Piledramon and Stingmon into Dino Beemon. Now Piledramon looks like an evolution of XV-mon wearing Stingmon's armour, but Dino Beemon looks like a mutated Stingmon with pieces of XV-mon grafted on.
Likewise, the D-3 Ver 2 gives us, if you Jogress Aquilamon and Tailmon, Aquilamon evolves into Silphymon and Tailmon evolves into AngeWomon, as predicted. And the D-3 Ver 3 gives us, if you Jogress Ankylomon and Angemon, Ankylomon evolves into Shakkoumon and Angemon evolves into Holy Angemon, as predicted. And Jogress optional.
The final nail in the coffin of 02 Jogress as Fusion is that in the canon Digimon Adventure 02 games (Digimon Adventure 02: Tag Tamers and Digimon Adventure 02: D1 Tamers) as well as the D-3 toys you need to Jogress to get your Final evolution. This requirement extends to the 8 original Kid's Digimon.
So Metal Greymon requires Jogress with Piledramon to become War Greymon (Piledramon becomes Imperial Dramon). And so on:
- Metal Greymon + Piledramon = War Greymon & Imperial Dramon.
- Atlur Kabuterimon + Dino Beemon = Herakles Kabuterimon & Gran Kuwagamon.
- Garudamon + Silphymon = Hououmon & Valkyrimon.
- Lilimon + AngeWomon = Rosemon & Holy Dramon.
- Zudomon + Shakkoumon = Plesiomon & Vikemon.
- Were Garurumon + Holy Angemon = Metal Garurumon.
Maybe a better notation for 2 result Jogress would be (Metal Greymon -> War Greymon) + (Piledramon -> Imperial Dramon). But I like to stick with this one
Absolutely nobody would argue that War Greymon and Metal Garurumon look like they're fusions. We're left with a list of TWENTY Jogress Digimon in 02 counting the canon games but only for the Chosen Children's Digimon. And every Jogress except for Omegamon and Imperial Dramon is not a Fusion by official terms, but for the sake of argument let's say Piledramon, Dino Beemon, Silphymon and maybe Shakkoumon are also Fusions since they "look enough like it". That still means out of 20, only 6 Jogresses would be or look like Fusions.
3) Evolutions in Digimon don't always look like they're more mature forms of the Digimon they evolved from.
Angemon's completely out of the picture, given that Shakkoumon is a direct evolution of Ankylomon, but even still he doesn't have to look like an older Ankylomon or even be a dinosaur. (Although it's true that at least Vikemon has the spiked club back as a weapon.)
Another easy example of this is Tailmon, who starts off having as mainly holy beasts (Plotmon and Tailmon) then becomes an angel (AngeWomon) and then becomes a holy dragon (Holy Dramon).
Keep in mind that Digimon have many, many evolutions. This is a characteristic that has been a part of Digimon almost longer than Digimon have been an idea. (Remember that Digimon started off as a themetic offshoot of the Tamagotchi franchise which also had branched evolutions.) It wouldn't make sense for all of them to look like the Digimon they were before evolving.
02 was actually the first attempt at making most related evolutions look at least somewhat similar. The main cast Digimon from Digimon Adventure were all recycled, except for Plotmon and Holy Angemon who were made almost on the spot. Some evolutions were redone. Metal Greymon was recoloured and made Vaccine. But before the Pendulum era, Digimon's evolution lines were never themetic; and during the Pendulum/Adventure era, the only theme to evolutions was very loosely elemental.
---
I like your design, but in my opinion, it can't replace Shakkoumon because of these three reasons. It's a miscalculation to 1) judge Shakkoumon by his intentionally strange or foreign, indeed otherworldly, (especially if you're new to monster catching anime genre) appearance, and to assume that 1) Shakkoumon is supposed to be a Fusion as in DBZ's Potara style or 3) should look like an older Ankylomon simply because he's Ankylomon's evolution.
Shakkoumon is a work of art in and of itself. It must've taken some imagination to come up with him as the primary evolution of Ankylomon instead of another dinosaur again. And I really like him in general. I hope that this helps you guys appreciate him at least a bit more

Yes, and I heard also the Orichalcos Shunoros from YΕ«*Gi*Oh! is also based off of DogΕ«
Also, man, this really bites :S People don't bother to educate themselves; and when you put the time into doing it for them, they just ignore you. I remember taking a *lot* of time writing up my explanation about how Jogress can NOT be considered even similar to Fusion (and how Fusion already exists in Digimon and is well defined as some thing different from Jogress), and just two posts above mine I see someone saying that this is a better "DNA Fusion".
Mind you, at the time I didn't know about Jogress in Digital Monster Ver S: Digimon Tamers, which had 1-result Jogress (the result was apparently the Digi-Egg of the base Digimon but with a special evolution unlocked), but it's a small correction to my post on the origins of Jogress and the conclusion's the same. To the contrary, if any thing, Shakkoumon already looks too much like an angel, and I've been told that Silphymon looks too much like a mammal.

I know what everyones saying about the "teapot", and I didnt like the original version. Yeah, he did shoot plates from his crotch. But I liked the concept of the design greatly.
Shakkoumon looks like a teapot, but he's based off a DogΓΊ, which were clay idols, and I liked the way they combined Angemon's spiritual nature and Ankylomon's armored one. This ones really just an angel with a mace and shield.
I'd love to see a re-revamp of Shakkoumon, as I think you could well do it justice, while remaining faithful to the original. Or maybe its just me.

While this is a very creative and cool design, I still love the original. Why? Well, while I can honestly say it really doesn't look like a fusion between the two component digimon, it's not quite Shakkoumon. Again, why? Well, because "Shakkou" comes from shakkoukidogu, a type of unique ancient Japanese sculpture, the name of which means "lens clay figure" due to their unique eyes. You've probably seen Shakkoumon's odd design in other forms, like the pokemon Baltoy and Claydol, the Orichalcos Shunoros from Yu-Gi-Oh, the Gorem types from Medabots, and countless others. Here's an image of what a typical intact shakkoukidogu looks like: [link]
I love shakkoukidogu, as to me they're some of the most fascinating sculptures in the world, so I'm afraid I just couldn't sit idly when you called it a teapot. No hard feelings, though, so don't worry. And like I said, this is a very cool design that's quite a bit more fitting of a fusion between an angel and a shelled dinosaur than an ancient Japanese clay statue. I still have no idea where they got that from.
