Description

The three orphan friends are having an evening of fun..

I saw a scene similar to this in a recent Victorian era movie so I wanted to recreate the 'look'

I'm going to stop now because it's obvious I'm going to "Favorite" just about your entire gallery. Just wonderful!

Sorry for the delayed reply, I haven't been here for a while. Thank you very much Solyonov! I'm happy that you like my work, it tends to go all over the place   I see you're also a storyteller at heart with your unique characters and scenes.

Thanks Kibosh. As you can see, you have nothing on me when it comes to belated replies!

Yes, as endusers storytelling is really the best way we can fashion something truly original

out of all the elements PAs give us. I think you have a hankering for it yourself. Even the

religious scenes I've done lately allude to a well understood story and that I think gives them

more power. In the end I'll go back to my Ouric character to illustrate a story I've had in mind

for some time. When I can do it justice! Cheers!

Sometimes I really wonder how you conjure up these wonderful atmospheric pictures.

It's just so wonderfully harmonious and just on the edge of perfection.

If you ask what film you're talking about, I haven't read it out, at least in the comments.

Thanks PSK - after I finish one I always wonder how I did it too!
I struggle getting an idea made into 3D from available models and props (I can't model things myself) but then it often ends up looking ok at the end

The film was 'To Walk Invisible' about the Bronte sisters lives and their writing careers.

Before DAZ I was (a few month) busy with modeling and digital "special effects" and I noticed that all this is too time consuming and I don't have enough patience and then you sit on a model for weeks and when you post it it disappeared after 5min in the timeline.
I found it somehow frustrating.  When I realized how realistic DAZ & Poser are in the meantime, I switched to it.

Yes, I also often have ideas where I despair when I can't find a suitable model or just "bad alternatives".

But with your pictures I also think again and again "how does he/she do that?
So awesome!

Thanks for the movie name, i'll see if i can find it in german Netflix too.

That's interesting your experience with modelling because today I was thinking if it would be easier to learn how to model something or just learn how to paint it.. I imagine being frustrated by both options. I have been using photoshop more, for colour balance, levels, contrast, some blur etc  which I find sometimes makes a big difference to the final result  (probably similar to when editing a photo makes a difference between fresh image and finished photo?   )
I'm so happy that others enjoy the scenes I make, thank you so much!

PSK-Projekt4D In reply to Kibosh-1 [2018-10-21 09:12:59 +0000 UTC]

I can't paint, otherwise I would prefer it , because you would have all the freedom there.

If you have patience, you can try it out.  Just think for Blender there are many tutorials and videos. Hexagon or something like that would be handy for DAZ, but don't know if there is much for it. I had played with Cinema4D at that time, because it is a German product and therefore many tutorials are also available in German.

With me also no picture comes past Photoshop. Every picture has to go through at least 1-2 hours. With photos it can last even sometimes 3 hours. I make mostly also different versions and decide only at the end which one I like best.
The stupid thing is, Photoshop is no fun for me (anymore). Therefore the photos and 3D pictures are stacked which are not yet "finished" with me.

I think if I could paint I would prefer it too. Is photoshop no fun for you anymore because you have to use it too much for all your photos? Has it become more "work" than "play" now?

PSK-Projekt4D In reply to Kibosh-1 [2018-10-23 11:28:45 +0000 UTC]

Yes, you're probably right!

I don't have a talent for composing in Photoshop, i.e. works of art composed of many photos. Therefore, my time was mostly limited to retouching skin and removing many small things that bother me (hair, stains, wrinkles, etc.) and then various experiments concerning the colors and contrasts, etc. or to add a flare.
But basically it was the same steps with every picture (more than 2-3 hours per picture) and with time (~12 years) it just became a annoying duty.
I don't like the photos without Photoshop, so it has to be. But I really only had fun creating the photos   or afterwards, when the model was happy .

And today, when I take fewer photos, working with DAZ is a lot of fun. Even if the pictures still have to be edited, only the skin retouching is usually omitted.

I understand - when something becomes a 'chore' or 'duty' rather than being enjoyable (like mine and most peoples jobs probably) it's not much fun
I agree though, even minor adjustments in photoshop are essential for the end result.

Porrette, I always say beautiful work. But I don't know what else to say. Everything you do is so wonderful and of such beautiful quality. I really love the atmospherics/lighting. I can almost feel the dampness in the air and even a slight chill. I hope there are no Victorian werewolves or vampires lurking the rooftops. It would be the perfect setting.

Kibosh-1 In reply to ZippyGuitar [2018-10-20 02:34:33 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Glen -  "beautiful" is certainly ok by me    If someone else gets the same pleasure as me viewing a scene I make, that's really cool!  I'm glad you enjoy them.
(That's true, seeing as it's Halloween, I should have a follow up with a vampire or something  )

Well there's Silver and friends and the little kitty.
Awesome moonlight and sky shot, but a bit ominous. I hope nothing bad will happen.

I don't seem to recognize the set. It has a nice early century/victorian touch!

Kibosh-1 In reply to Magnus-Strindboem [2018-10-17 01:24:20 +0000 UTC]

Haha, yes same kitty! Should never feed a stray!
Probably someone will scream at them to shut-up from one of the nearby windows!!
The set is from lots of props: most of the right side is Medieval Hall and Garden, the back is from Streets of Old London and the left and foreground is from A Curious Passage, A Curious Chapel and a gate from Hemlock Folly.

I was so happy that when I'd finished the image, it gave me the similar feeling to the movie    I watched it twice on Netflix.

(I can see you leaning out the window on the right joining in with your wolf howl)

Thanks Sukkram, I was pleased when I finished the scene that it gave me the same feeling as I had when watching the movie    And you're right, it is much quicker to do this than try to paint it! (For me anyhow)

True... painting this need a lot of time, and not sure to find the same feeling.

Thanks for share you wonderful art.

Fantastic job, especially with the lighting from the moon. The setting is really detailed and realistic. With two of the three characters howling, it's a wonder they didn't scare the cat.

Thanks Tonto, I like how you pick up the details  For some reason the cat has taken a liking to them..

Tonto1 In reply to Kibosh-1 [2018-10-17 11:38:34 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. I enjoy the characters, which to me, tells a little about them. Put them in a nice setting, or background, it tells more of the story, in my opinion.

When I am browsing, I look for subjects of interest, which is how I found you. For characters, I look for facial features for realism, attire or not, certain physical attributes, but pulls it all together is the setting and details thru out.

A lot of your work its that criteria, so I became a watcher.  Keep up the great work my friend.
