Tinkering (Specifically, creating bombs) – Another skill he picked up. He’s pretty good with mechanics and often times he creates little gadgets and what-nots and can fix all kinds of things. He usually uses this skill to create explosives (mostly to help him on the offensive end.)
Acrobatic – As a cat, he’s naturally agile and acrobatic and is able to perform all kinds of tricks and such.

Zen is usually silent, taciturn, and normally has an expressionless face, making it hard to tell what he’s thinking, and never seems smile. He prefers not to say anything unless needed, mostly in one word responses or a short phrase. A sentence or more if need be. He’s also a bit of a tsundere.
He’s distrusting and closed off to new people, reluctant make friends due to past experiences. Also because of his silent demeanor he finds it hard to make any relationships. He’s hard to break through and he tends to be a bit cautious around people because of his status as a thief. He’s kind if he opens up.
He’s apatheic, showing no care to other people’s affairs and tries to stay out of them. But he has an altruist side to him, very altruist, often helping people on a whim, even if it has nothing to do with himself.
Zen is pretty stubborn and won’t easily change his mind once it’s been made. He's a determined child, and does not give up easily. He's more likely to think his actions through unless provoked. He hates to give up without a fight unless he knows for certain he will lose.
He’ll try his best to avoid any questions about himself or his past, and he hates to be pestered about it. He’ll refuse to tell anything about himself unless he feels safe about them.
Zen's not easily provoked, often only ending up annoyed. Also, He'll pretty much never lie (or does he?).
Under that shell of ice, he’s quite playful and mischievous with a bit of a devil-may-care attitude, being somewhat happy-go-lucky and carefree.
He's quite naive and very curious, about many things. He's never gone to school so he likes learning new things. He's more street-smart rather than book-smart.

Background:
Zen was born on the outskirts of town to a nekomata mother and a hellhound father, four years after his older sister, Selphie. His parents, Kanna and Ensleus, were merchants, travelling about the world selling goods of all kinds from intricately designed fabrics to powerful weaponry. But despite the hardships of travel and trade, the two grew up in a happy enviroment. Zen and Selphie got along well together as two siblings would. He lived a fairly normal life, running happily in their secluded home and surrounding meadows, and took up an early interest in music, the violin and erhu.

Until that tragic day…5 years…

It was a normal day as anything. It was late afternoon, Zen and Selphie were outside playing in the front meadow while their parents sorted out the merchandise for the coming year. It was nearing the time for festivals, and among the many products were a stock of gunpowder and fireworks in preparation. Kanna and Enslues were careful as they worked about their goods, overlooking Zen and Selphie, but unfortunately, as they reached for the lantern that assisted them, it was knocked over into the boxes of the powder, causing an explsiion and house burst into flames. The two siblings could only stare in horror at the inferno that now consumed their home, their parent, everything. Crying out for his mother and father, Zen ran blindly into the fire to find them, to save them, only to be struck by a burning piece of lumber. Knocked to half-consciousness, he was dragged out by Selphie before anymore harm with the help of the villagers from nearby , held in place as he struggled desperately as he could do nothing but cry as the flames burned away the night.
It was miracle that the children were left alive, but the pain and misery it caused overwhelmed them. For the days to come, Selphie, despite the hardships and misery of the event, did her best to care for her younger brother and get a roof over their heads. She salvaged anything she could find from the ruined home, sellign it off and before long, she managed to to build a shack for the two of them to live in.
It was miracle that the children were left alive, but the pain and misery it caused overwhelmed them. Zen was left in a state of shock, almost near hysteria, shaken and lost. For nearly a year, he merely sat in a corner, pieces of him eroding away as his mind tried to relieve itself of the traumatic event. Over time, Zen began to recover from his state and fully accept what happened.
Zen was never the same after that. He stopped smiling and had become apathetic from the time period. He lived together with his sister where their hoem had once stood, doing what they could to make ends meet. Selphie had taken up the ways of the sword, taking jobs as a mercenary and was out for most of the day, which left Zen to wait the lonely time pass by slowly. It was here he began his life as a thief, wandering about the town stealing food stuffs for them. Selphie discovered what he was doing and scolded him for it, insisting to just let her take care of it. Zen however, had opposing thoughts, persistant to do his share of the responsibility. In the end, Selphie gave in to Zen, and here the two become what they are today, mercenary and thief.

There came one day, Zen had stumbled upon a group of nekomatas. They were all thieves, under the guise of a troupe known as the Cait Troupe. He joined along with them, adding to their musical group with his flute, which he picked up prior to this. Zen found solice within the troupe, showing signs of genuine joy for the first in years. They travelled together, and teamed up in thieving jobs and the like. The troupe became well known as street performers, and near infamous rogues. They often based in Risholi, as their main hideout resided there. In Garnet City, a wide compound hidden within the alleys of the large city. On top of the hideout stood a tall aeolian harp.
Among their travels, Zen had come across a young daegoon, lost from its kind and chased by the hostile fauna. He rescued the creature, chasing off its pursuers, where he then took it in and nurtured it back to health. The daegoon recovered soon enough, and ran around the compound after Zen like a happy child. The daegoon was then named Cait Sith, Ao for a nickname, after their troupe, and became the mascot on their symbol, the Nekotsune that followed the way of the wind.

This happiness in Zen’s life did not last long, however…

It started on a rainy night, Zen, along with a few of the troupe members, came across a wounded man in the city outskirts. They brought him in, cared for him until he recovered. The man was a hippocampus, rough-looking but had a pleasant air around him. The troupe welcomed him with open arms, showing him around their area and the compound. He added more to their joyous cheer, taught them things, and became figure to them all and they looked up to him.
But the man they saw was none but an illusion. He was a spy sent to eliminate them all. One chilly night, everal weeks later sicne they’ve met, The man had plotted this day and brought along several of his accomplices to the hideout. Through the man, they broke in, catching the Cait Troupe off guard and proceeded to kill them. Zen and the members fought back using all they had, slowly triumphing over the assualters when the hippocampus set fire to the building.
The building collapsed to ruin not before long. Few survived the collapse and even less survived the raging inferno that spread from the wreckage. Zen was one of the few survivors. He ran desperately around the flaming wreckage, searching for any others that might have survived. He only came to find the hippocampus killing off the last of the members.
“Y-you….” Zen’s eyes shone with hatred at the man, for the lives of all of Cait Troupe that he took.
“Me? Who would’ve thought?” The man let the body drop to the floor, sarcastucally shrugging with the blood-splattered blade in hand.
“I- We trusted you! We TRUSTED you!!!” His voise screamed into the twilight sky as unstoppable tears began to stream down his face. They all accepted him with friendship, yet he only used it to kill them all off. “Ah, yes, yes you did my dear boy. Now what a mistake that was now, mm?” The man spoke in a moking tone. In blind rage, Zen attacked the man in the midst of the flaming ruins.
Nothing, other than the cries of despair, remained that night.
Zen survived that catastrophic event. The man had died in the fire that night, Zen himself has escaped barely with his life from the now ruined compound. Ao had dissappeared that night, and the members of what was once the infamous thief group Cait Troupe was gone, buried under the ashes with broken graves.

Zen left behind the events, which had left him the way he is now. He still continued as a thief but refused to lay any bit of trust to anyone, fearing that the event would repeat. He trained with his sister in the ways of the sword to helph im with self-defence and took up his own skill in mechanics, learning how to create explosives. The two were never seperated for the time Zen took to recover, and then soon split paths.
One day, Zen came upon an abandoned Ellarille. Seeing no signs of its parents and no other to care for it, Zen took in the creature, looking after it himself. Umbra, as he’d named it, now accompanies Zen everywhere in his journeys around Voleros.

Additional Info:
The Moon Medallion is a momento from his mother. His sister, Selphie, holds the Sun Medallion from their father.
The hairpiece was a gift from Selphie, so she could keep track of him but he occasioanlly muffles it.
He has a burn scar across his back, from his left shoulder to his right hip. He received it when he ran into the flaming house and a burning piece of lumber struck him on the back. He has three slash scars running down the length of his left arm, usually covered by the bandages.
Zen’s quite skilled in parkour, which came along with his agility and acrobatics.
He’s ambidextrous (originally left-handed.)
Zen occasionally works as a thief for hire, as long as the pay is reasonable for the job.
Zen always keeps one sort of weapon on his being at all times.
Zen has an acute sense of hearing, being able to hear sounds farther than most. In most cases, he’s able to still navigate even in complate darkness.
He has a full set of fangs.
The twin blades can be chained together and used like a kusari-gama(chain-scythe)
He likes stringed instruments alot, even played two different kinds in his childhood; he played the violin and the erhu, a Chinese two-stringed instrument.
The mask he holds was a gift he made for someone. He has yet to give it to that person, so he holds onto it. He's a bit protective about it and won't let anyone touch it.
Selphie is the only one who has seen Zen smile.
