Eirin tries to send Udongein on a suicide mission. Udongein refuses with ironclad will, so Eirin has resort to plan B.There only 2 reason that somebody give you a sheild and sword: 1) to fight other people with sheilds and swords
2) to fight some menacing beast.

Actually, Kaguya was willing; She died many of times trying to get those scales. Kaguya even mention one of the time dies in MH 2. [link]

I wasn't expecting Eirin to just cave like that. Wow. But Kaguya is SO MUCH better an option, since she could literally blast her way out of that dragon's stomach if she had to.

Eirin only caved because of Udongein's ironclad will, so there was nothing she could do. Kaguya wouldn't have to worry about getting eaten because the dragon exclusively eats rabbit, but it would most likely kill her an abundant of times, then get bored and maybe just give Kaguya the scales.
