Well, here it is. This was a great learning experience and just a lot of fun to do. I used both Prismacolor standard colored pencils, Verithins and a "True Blue" marker. I did use the smudge tool in a cheezy version of Adobe to blend the background a bit. Overall, I'm very happy with how this turned out.Related content

On that particular day the sunlight isn't reflective of his mood. More on that when the chapter comes. It's still a very long way off!

Yay! You colored it! *snags* Again, wonderful job with the shading and the texture. I like how you made the background all sunny and happy, I usually imagine Piccolo gazing out at a star-filled night sky. ^_~

I made the background sunny and happy because its IRRITATING him at that moment!
He's got a very tough decision to make and no guaranteed outcome. The sunny skies were a contrast, rather than a compliment to his feelings. That's one of the reasons I left it a little boring. Life does go on, regardless of our feelings about it

It IS from a fanfic, but that scene hasn't been written yet in "Errant Exile." Its actually a long way down the road but its an important one

I like the shiny, actually. (I figure, hey, its fanart, its not going to be exactly the same styles. But you do what ya like.) Gorgeous coloring though, I'm so afraid to color anything for fear of absolutely ruining it and you did such a wonderful job. It seems like such a wonderfully nice day, little cool breeze...like how it is here, actually. The shading here is fantastic and the setting keeps its beauty about it ^__^ Love this, absolutely.

Thank you, DS! I was leaning towards toning the highlights on his gi down and probably still will.
As for coloring...I know how you feel! I spend so much time on my B&W's that I'm scared to death to touch them. What I ended up doing was something very small and a little frivilous ("Taming Ma Junior") and that helped get the ball rolling. It was a major departure from what I normally do but I've had so much fun I think I'll be coloring more often

It all depends on the fabric. And I rather like the shiny effect. I mean sort of goes with the picture and makes him stand out even more so.
I like it as is.

Thanks Akutenshi -- the consensus is against us, though! I'm going to take a look at it again and see if I can't tone it down a bit. It was the one area I was a bit "squishy" on and wondered if I hadn't cranked the highlights up a bit too high.

I agree with Velasa about the gi......but it's Piccolo on the BEACH, it just doesn't get any better. Unless he got wet >3 mwahaha!

This is absouletly gorgeous! I love the colors you used on the background and his skin is excellent!
The only problem I have is with his Gi... it's VERY shiny

There seems to be a concensus building on the gi -- I'm seriously thinking about toning it down. I was afraid of making the area too dark so erred on the side of highlights. Its easily corrected though

Oo His clothes are a might too shiny... He's not sparkley-satiny smooth, ya know. The background and his face catches the all-present ambient light you see at the ocean on a clear day, but his gi is so extremely handled it's an anomoly. But as before, I love that cloak so much. I just wish he wasn't so shiny.

I was debating myself about the gi - if I went with it totally purple I was afraid it would be too much, too dark in too large an area. I'm still thinking about it though and its not too late to tone it down.

Yeah. If you've got a faintly lighter purple, that would work. But I'm reccomend using a seperate piece of paper to see how the colors look together before going to the actual piece.
