I can't think of anything to say to these other than they are cute.

Nice colors! Do you have a pic of the frame with your painting?

I do! 40.media.tumblr.com/7b202bdcc3…
I had to do some Jerry rigging to repair the back, but I LOVE the front.

ahh it's soo lovely! You're lucky that you can find such cool frames!

All I can find in at thrift stores and garage sales and whatever are old cheap Michaels frames that are chipped/scuffed fake wood :/

The best place for cool inexpensive frames are stores like Ross, TJ Max, Marshals, etc... they have a lot of odd frames that are really cool!

Water color huh? Β Very interesting choice. Β The warm colors Really pop out to the audience and leaves a huge impact along with the character itselfΒ

Bravo

watercolors are a really relaxing break when everything has been digital for awhile x3

This is brilliant! I enjoy both your digital and traditional work but it seems traditional is becoming less popular these days (probably because it's less compact, dunno) so it's always great to see artists whose work I enjoy still doing something traditional every once in a while.

I like how shapes interact here. The way the smaller bush in the foreground overlaps with the paw might be a little close to a tangent (and so attracting attention compositionally) but that's nitpicking really.

And you don't have to answer this if you don't feel like it for any reason but are highlights also done in watercolour? I once used a brand of liquid watercolours that had really thick gouache-like white but lately I find it more convenient to use other stuff stuff (I need to pick watercolour up again sometime).

I do a mix of a gouache white, acrylic white, and colored pencils.Β  (in this case I used gouache white.Β  No real difference between it and acrylic.)Β  I use a white colored pencil to do soft subtle highlights, and a bit of the white paint to really pull an edge light.

Also yeah, the paw is definitely a little tangented :/Β  Originally the bush was even lower, but it got completely cropped out of my frame, so I pulled it back up last minute.Β  Should have gone a BIT further.

And I LOVE doing both digital and traditional.Β  The two types of artwork really build off of each other, and the skills I learn in one always help the other :3Β  traditional works give me a nice BREAK from digital.

Yeah, I feel the same - it's easier to do some things digitally and other traditionally but they compliment each other nicely and it feels good being able to switch between the two.

Aw yeah, white colour pencils are great! And markers (like Edding white paint markers, they are handy when you can't carry paint around). I probably should grab some acrylics or gouache - I haven't used either for a while and I kind of hated gouache after middle school and high school because it seemed to be all we painted with but I think I got over that by now.

I'm not very good with gouache!Β  It's hard to use.
Other than the white, I have been using mostly opaque watercolors as you get those QUICK vibrant colors with significantly less pain than the gouache.Β  Pelikan brand in particular.

Yeah, goache is kind of annoying but I'm curious if it's any better than what I remember. Never tried Pelikan, I'll look out for it! I like Ecoline liquid watercolours (I still have some left so I might try something with them soon).

I really like your color choices here. The background hills in purple and the majority of the piece being in orange and yellow is really eye catching and appealing.

Thank you!Β  My favorite thing about the desert is seeing mountains shift to a blue or purple during sunset :3
