As I was posting the journal on the avians I realized that I didn't have a good pic of Ophy (Ophyuchus), and I knew I had drawn one at one point... so after some digging on my external hard drive I found a rather old (I dunno, its not too old, but kinda iffy) lineart of him that I did and had already laid down the flats on... so I quickly added some shading to it, so that I could finally have a semi decent ref for him ^^
And I do not have any purposeful reason why Miz there is mist/smoke/haze, maybe it is just how she walks around, shrouded in mist.
And they do both have an opaline glaze to them
(yes he has 6 wings)

It looks beautiful. I love the blotchy oily effect you have on him. Makes him seem more mystical. The details are gorgeous, especially on his tail. Wonderful work, old or not.

Gosh your avian's are so detailed and have such a regal yet powerful feel about them, i love how this Avian has his two side horn's curled up from the traditional avian look, and his six wing's are effing awesome and give him so much more of a serious and strong look, and i alway's love seeing Mizgarth, she has to be one of my fav Avian's, thou i haven't been around dA long enough to know the entire story around the Avian's and XM 8( sook's. Don't worry, the story about avians is still highly up in the air, Most of the stuff I write and post online gets changed within days of my posting it XD
I think tho I should prolly be spending more time on writing the comic then working out all of the details of the backstory, so maybe I can find out what I need in the backstory XD

actualy, i find his pose...uncomfortable. he looks cramped to me. that aside, the oil-like sheen you applied to him is very cool, makes his disturbing to look at. And the evanescent feel the mist gives to her is quite a fin contrast to his solid, slick look. Keep up the bad-assery!

I think his pose is like that because I drew him on a small piece of paper, I am pretty sure in my special little blue "Q" sketchbook... (I love those sketchbooks because the paper is so incredibly soft, yet thick enough that marker doesn't seep through the pages)

It wasn't really hard, just messing around with gradient fills and different filters to make a nice texture overlay.
