Description
The Bunyip is a mythical creature from Australia existing within Aboriginal Folklore. It is said to inhabit the innermost part of Australia. It thrives in lagoons, creeks, river beds, and swamps. The name translates to "evil spirit" or "devil."
There are two common descriptions given to the Bunyip. One of a short-neck variety(which is the most common) having the appearance of a dog crossed with a seal.It has a shaggy and rugged brown to black coat,a round head similar to that of a bulldog, large ears, small tusks like that of a walrus,no tail, and whiskers like a seal. The long necked variety is less commonly described. It is said to be larger having the same color of pelt (brown to black),ears, tusks, a head like a horse,a rugged neck lined with many folds of skin, and a horse-like tail. Here i gave the beast characteristics from both.
It is a nocturnal predator that preys upon humans especially women and children but also feeds on crayfish. It has a loud roar along with booming vocals. They say it's sounds similar to a Bittern Marsh Bird that is native to the island. It is amphibious in nature but also is given human form by some witnesses. It also is said that it lays its eggs in platypus nests.
