Description
mixed media sculpture of fabric, clay and wire. Character design belongs tostands 10" tall not including wings, 19" long.
Finally finished it! This was an awesome character to develop my detail work on, glad i got to make him.

Oh k neat. I like your feather raptors. I may buy one from u in the future, but if you don't mind me asking, I see that you use clay and wires for the sculpture, but do you use clay over the wire frame and then add fur?

Stuffing goes onto the frame and then the fur, just use the clay to make the head and feet.

Can you tell me a bit about your painting process for your sculptures?

On morpheous I painted the sculpted parts with acrylics(face and feet) the rest is all fabrics that i added a little highlight and shadow color to with both paintbrush and airbrush.

Do you have any work in progress shots(of any of your pieces)? Or a tutorial of sorts? I'd love to see them if you do ^^
A tutorial might help since I have many questions 
I haven't tried any large sculptures yet, only small things like this:Β starling16.deviantart.com/art/β¦ (apologies for the watermark). I'll experiment more and do some fantasy creatures once I've bought some better clay (sculpey original currently :/ )

This is what I imagined some of the Incan dragons in the Temeraire books to look like. Of course you would add some rings in the wingtips, as they were very much into body jewelry in that dragon culture.Β

ooohh yaaay! ^-^ Im so glad he was exciting for you to make! he looks great! thos scales are phenomenal. I can't believe you cut them all out lmao its crazy epic (sorry were in the middle of moving again. we have only been able to spent 1 month in the house we have been paying for for that last 4 or more months lol @_@ so things have been difficult over here lol and decided to move to a place we can actually live in @_@
