Description Overview
Loren, hands photo shoot.

The set, the hands…
This was the third time I used this set, this was very similar to a lot of the aspects of the ‘Steph, hands photo shoot’, with some smaller differences.
The set information is the same as it.

The message…
The message is a bit similar to ‘Steph, hands photo shoot’ but there are some differences to it. This one is also about a person who has been victimized and bullied emotionally by others and how some people can’t even find comfort inside them self to escape from the world, that there is something else there a reminder of the torment still there in your memories, and that it is so vivd that is like having another person with in your head, a person who lies to you and laughs every time you fall, that your not alone in your thoughts and the fear of these others are still out in your reality out there still trying to destroy you and there is no peace no matter where you go- whether it is reality or your mind.
This is also about blaming yourself to what is happening to you which others do to you and suffering mentally, and thinking you’re the one who is wrong and responsible, being brainwashed by those who you trust. It also is about being trapped within your own mind, that you seeked some kind of way out in your imagination for so long that you are now trapped in it by those you shouldn’t trust and you cant get out, kind of like being stuck in a coma and not being able to wake from it.

In this photo shoot the model, Loren, is in a lot twisted positions and is on her back a lot, this symbolizes the struggle with ones self that’s she deserves to be uncomfortable, as her punishment, as though there is two of her, one which wants to escape and one which keeps her there, as though her worst enemy is now herself.

The model…
The models name is Loren who I used, she is a friend from school and is 17 years old and her background it African and English. She was very good to work with for photo shoots because she is also in my Studio Arts Photography class and has an understanding of what does look good and bad in photo shoots. She also takes very good photos and does some brilliant poses.

The hair…
For the hair I just wanted to do something big and crazy, so I teased and curled her hair so it looked like she was electrocuted. I was aiming for an insane look.

The make-up…
I only used eyeliner for her eyes, just to emphasis them and dramatise them a bit. If I could go back in time I would have made it thicker and similar to Stephs eye-makeup.

The clothes and costume…
She is wearing three tops for her entire outfit. A white long sleeve top which was back to front because it was a v-neck, a t-shirt under that because the long sleeve top was see through, and singlet top which was used as a skirt. I wanted Loren to have an insane look to her, as though she was wearing a straight jacket.
She is also wearing latex gloves which link her to the set and is symbolizing her wearing them-being in control and using her hands to push against the wall as if there closing in on her.

Lighting
For lighting I used natural light and flash light. Klieg light was an idea to trial but I didn’t have access to it at the time of the photo shoot.
With using natural light that meant that I had to turn off the flash off on the digital camera which seemed to affect the quality of the images in that it made them blurry and distorted, I haven’t incorporated many of these photos in my folio due to this, but if I had, it was because I really liked the composition of the photo and that I will try to see if I can fix them with photoshop later down the track.
Flash light seemed to be the best because natural light couldn’t get all the way into the cube because of it’s depth and angle of lighting during the time of day of the photoshoot, but the flash seemed to be able to help this and get into the box to lighten it up as well as the model when I took a picture.

no problem
:]]
most people on devArt just take a picture and that's it.
but the fact that you take the time to explain it is quite refreshing.
