Personality: Slightly dorky, primarily maladaptive and still quite unused to the world of the Puella Magi, and perhaps social situations in general. Before becoming a magical girl, Ikumi was introverted and preferred to hang around the edges, reading a great deal. Since her contract, she’s found herself shoved out into the open a great deal, which makes her uncomfortable but is gradually making her much more open and sociable. Ikumi thinks in a non-linear manner, with a tendency to jump to conclusions and get so wrapped up in possible negative endings that she fails to see the bigger picture or any hope for herself; she’s terrified to death at the very idea of the Walpurgis Night, being barely capable herself to deal with regular-level witches. In battle, despite being very aggressive and employing marginal strategy tactics, she’s (when it comes down to it) quite weak and serves as a better support or defender rather than an offensive attacker of witches. Loyal, sometimes to the point of fanaticism, she’ll consciously allow people to walk on her and use her as a pawn in the name of friendship and “not rocking the boat”. To perfect strangers or people she dislikes, however, she’s stubborn, generally not very forgiving, and quite adamant about favours.

Likes: Cats, oxygen (?!), science, books, people, animals that most people would normally find creepy as shit (prime example: scorpions.)

Dislikes: Fights, being alone, heights, writing (her kanji sucks), has a strong phobia of death and is constantly plagued by anxiety about possibly dying.

Backstory: Growing up with a single father in a generally loving, perhaps only a little lonely family, Ikumi had nearly everything she wanted. A quiet girl, she was delighted when a girl named Motoko Kawasaki finally befriended her in middle school, only to have her kill herself roughly a year afterwards. Ikumi was swarmed with guilt, believing it to be her fault for not noticing anything wrong, and thus determinedly wished to bring her back somehow. She was highly perturbed when first offered a contract, due to the impossibility and distinct lack of a scientific explanation, but incubators and the possibility of wish fulfillment piqued her interest enough to seriously consider it. Eventually, she agreed to become a Puella Magi, if only just to further investigate the phenomenon.

When Motoko was brought back from the dead, however, she was horrified to be back in the world she had been desperate to escape, bearing a grudge against Ikumi as she continued to while out her days in a depressive catatonic state while her friend battled witches. Since this occurrence, she’s been obsessed with the well-being of any of her acquaintances and makes a nice emotional doormat.
