Description
The rest of lunch had gone alright once Varmint kicked her brother into silence. The rest of the Apples didn’t care about Blue Velvet’s past; they treated her like an old friend and made her feel welcome. She was able to relax and be herself a little bit, but not entirely.

She still couldn’t get Brackish’s taunting out of her mind. He took a part of her life that was very personal and turned it into a joke. She felt violated.

But now it was time to go home, where she wouldn’t have to be around him.

Blue said her goodbyes and made to leave the orchard, but it wasn’t even ten seconds after the door closed behind her that she heard a voice.

“Don’t think you can get away with it that easily.”

The churning in her stomach returned as she immediately recognized the sickening voice of her girlfriend’s brother. Oh how she didn’t want to deal with him again! She tried to keep her eyes forward and keep going when suddenly something grabbed her, pushing her up against the barn wall.

“Answer me when I’m talking to you!”

She found herself face-to-face with Brackish, the scent of too many breath mints filling her senses as he huffed directly in her face.

“W-what do you want from me?”

“Oh, nothing, just wanna have a word with you. Now that you’re dating my sis and all.”

Brackish chuckled.

“I know who you are. You’ve been around. Broke a lot of hearts.”

Blue hesitated. She hadn’t broken any hearts at all; if anything she’d had her heart broken a couple times. She didn’t like this image he was painting of her.

“I don’t-“

“I get it, I’ve done the same. It’s a curse.~”

His expression immediately hardened into a scowl.

“But Gaia help me, you ain’t pullin’ any of that shit with my sister. She acts like a tough gal but she’s got a soft heart like every mare does, and if you use her as another one of your flings it’ll destroy her. And I’ll make you pay for it-“

He jabbed a hoof into her chest.

“-you dirty little slut.”

Blue struggled for words as she tried to defend herself.

“I-I would never, I love her very much and I want to be hers for a long time-“

“That’s what they all say. You ain’t fooling me.”

“Brackish! Time for chores!”

The stallion took notice of his Ma calling out for him, rolling his eyes before slapping Blue’s back a little too hard. He knew his family was in earshot so he had to be less threatening.

“Just looking out for my sister! Apples to the core and all that. Gotta love ‘em. Come again, you hear?”

He leaned in to whisper in her ear,

“And remember what I said.”

Chills went down Blue’s spine as she took off, trotting as fast as she could away from Sweet Apple Acres. Away from him.

Her love life was much more than a topic of ridicule, she realized. It could be used to hurt her.
