An answer for Moriwth , for a question that wasn't on the AMA but I felt like treating it like one. I'd love to give Rachel a bio eventually and maybe have her do an AMA of her own, but I want to feel out her character a bit first.
Rachel's bandage and scars featured pretty prominently in one of my dreams about her. It was after we became friends but before I realized she had feelings for me. She was talking about lewd stuff, I was too busy trying not to blush to really pay attention, and next thing I knew she asked me what one item of clothing I'd be most excited to watch her take off. So, because I'm dense, I said if she wanted my undivided attention she should take off her bandage. Her scars were intense, but they didn't make her any less beautiful to me. She still needed a lot of hugging and reassuring afterwards ;-;

For a moment I was very confused like "why would she want to hide her short hair, surely it can't be that bad" but then I remembered, head surgery.
Anyway yeah that makes sense. Like, I'm personally of the belief that scars are nothing to be ashamed of, but with or without shame I can definitely understand not wanting to show them to everyone ^^

Yep. My scalp's a mess of angry red lines and it ain't pretty. Eight (soon to be nine) cranial surgeries have made a hell of a mess! They aren't even tidy or anything so it's just best to keep them out of sight.

Now were a bit curious as to how she got those scars, but now probably isn't the time to ask.

I admit I'm curious too, but with how nervous she was just showing me, I'm not about to press for answers.
Though, one of the IRL girls I drew from for her did used to struggle with suicidal thoughts (funny thing is, I had the bandage-and-scars dream long before I even met this real girl). I made a habit of checking up on her and sat with her a couple nights when her mental health was especially bad. We still keep in touch and as far as I know she's doing much better these days. So, I'm not saying Rachel has a suicide attempt in her past, but I think I'll make the checking on mental health and sitting together on bad nights canon for her too, just to be safe.

Probably a wise idea. We also knew a girl way back in highschool with similar scars on her leg and while it wasn't a suicide attempt it was still really bad. Whatever happened to her, Rachael can probably use a lot of love and support.
I suppose there is still the option that she tried to take a level of bloodmage, but that seems really unlikely.

That's the plan, I'll love and support her with all my heart! Or is it that my avatar will with all her heart..? The fourth wall is getting a bit weird with this ^^
And I guess I can't rule out some kinda culty stuff, but for whatever 'verse Meri and Rachel inhabit I'm gonna stick pretty close to reality. Although I might depict our cat (since I can't imagine us not having a cat) as a Nyanko Days-style chibi catgirl, since the cat model I have isn't very expressive.
