I wish to photograph birds someday but I don't have the right equipment yet (just using a good old panasonic point and shoot and fujifilm s2000hd bridge cam) , you need a lot of patience since they tend to be elusive in these parts. Good job mate!

I'm not really well equipped for shooting birds to be honest, My Nikon d5000 has pretty much no shutter lag, which I'm guessing is your main problem as I used to use a fujifilm s1500 bridge cam before I got the nikon. My tip to you would be try to shoot birds that are sitting on branches as I do because you should have ample zoom to do that. I shoot my birds while they are landed because I don't really have much zoom with the lenses I have so catching them in flight is very hard. I think it's going to be the ame solution to our different problems

Nikon d5000 with a tamron 70-300mm lens at 300mm.
