Thankfully we finally got some news on pokemon sun and moon. And the starters are in. and these are my own personal opinions on them from the first impressions we got.
Rowlet: It's an owl! a cute lil rolley polley owl, with a bow tie leaf XD. This thing is currently my favorite and quite possibly the starter i'll choose. Bulbasaur is still be a racist poke though, it's not a reptilian starter, but birds came from reptiles so he's not as racist as he was to chespin XD, I also like how it's once again a duo type from the start, like bulbasaur was. And with this owl, you can have your grass type and your fly hm poke at the same time.
Litten: By the looks of things, this fella is the crowd favorite, and i do like him too, I find it amusing that we have a pokemon which can chuck firey hairballs. And it could keep with the Zodiac theme of the fire starters if it becomes a Tiger in it's final evo. I'm predicting that it's final evo coulda very well end up being fire/dark. Cyndaquill and Torchic are a lil afraid that the newbie will eat em.
Popplio: It's a seal starter, it's pretty nice, though the clown seal aspect seems a lil on the nose. Between the 3 starters, popplio has the least amount of interest to me, its got a nice design and looks cute, but did not grab me as much as the other two. it's juggling squirtle and oshawott XDOverall, this batch of starters is a lil harder to choose which is the favorable one, they all have interesting qualities to em. it's a tough choice.

yea this time around the evil looking mascot doesn't look all that great in pokemon form, i can somehow see a way for a gijinka of it could possibly be beautiful, but besides that it just isn't as interesting as the sun one. though even then it's not a complete win for me on either one.

Shamefully not hyped for Pokemon, X&Y really killed the series for me. Black & White, though most of it's mons were lack luster, was a hell of an evolution for the franchise

You know I realized that with Rowlet being a grass owl we have a circle of bird starters (Rowlet, Torchic and Piplup)

What would your reaction be if Litten becomes part Fighting?
Personally, I can see Popplio becoming part Fighting. Your thought on that as well?

So a circus Walrein/Dewgong? Overdone. They mentioned Popplio's acrobatics, and Flying type was taken, so I thought Fighting or Psychic.

True, but still, its much better than X and Y's starter. Grass-Fighting was a ridiculous combo with a really bad stat mixture and an even worse x4 weakness to Flying types. Grass-Flying will make for a great sweeper with a better variety of physical and special attacks. Electric and Fire types are gonna be a problem but I'm really hoping that the Grass type will help to at least give some sort of protection against Rock types. Rowlet feels like it will be the competitive Grass type that everyone has been looking for.Β
Litten is supposedly going to be evolve into Fire-Ground which will be kind of useless in my opinion. Polipoo I'm praying will become a Water-Fighting. Poliwrath was a real disappointment in that double type and I'd like to see a Pokemon with a really unique design be the one to do that mash-up right.Β

Yeah. Β From a battle standpoint the typing is gonna be trouble. Β But it is cute.

yea, the 4x ice weakness is gonna be a likely prob, but a lot of pokes have that and still go around being useful, namely a lot of dragon/flying pokes and garchomp, and mega sceptile.
but on the plus side, it has one less weakness than a regular grass type. and grass/flying have 4 resistances..... hmm... hard to say with this lil owl
just rechecked, and i was wrong, it still has 5 weaknesses, just switches out bug for rock

I just always remember grass/flying being a rough type to work with. Β Then again Jumpluff is my most common experiences with grass/flying so maybe if it gets some good defenses that would help balance out its weakness. Β Time will tell.
