I love how you capture lighting and scenery so well, though! I always find that rendering scenery is more difficult >.> I'd love to see your adorable characters lined, you should totally go for it ;D

Wow really? Thank you so much! I've been really trying to practice my lighting, and I always enjoy painting scenery, so I'm glad you think so!

Scenery can be hard, you have to capture so much compared to a single character, so it's easy to become overwhelmed. Best thing to do, I find, is to start by doing small thumbs (like really small) of photos. Practice copying the photos colours without colour picking, and try to capture that in a small space. It makes you focus on the overall picture, because you can't add details. You start to learn more about how colours work as you make more and more mistakes, and you start to learn how to make a full image without details.

You need to learn how to make the image look good from a distance, before you worry about the details. Once you can make an image look good in a thumbnail, everything else becomes a lot easier. At least I have found this. (it also improves your speed, because with quick strokes of colour you can build an image quickly, then all you have left is the details, that still takes time, but you waste less time jumping around and thinking.)
