This was based on a biro sketch I drew upside down on my arm for my next tattoo check it out on my tumbler [link] Obviously if I do decide to get it tattooed it will be a lot simpler and I'll probs change my mind a hundered times about the colours. I already have a pentagram on my arm that I had done 7 years ago and the mermaids I tried to draw around it, and tried to make the most of the space on my arm.
Whats the best colours to have tattoo wise, I want something that wont fade 2 much over time. Any suggestions from those of you who have tats?

Green, purple, blue and white are the colors you want to stay away from. They don't go into the skin as easy, so for one it is harder to get them to stay during the actual tattooing process, then they fade hellishly fast.

this is what inspired my first deviation!! the end result is a little far removed form the original but I really like the colour scheme and the idea of a Gothic mermaid creature living at the bottom of the ocean...mine wouldn't work nearly as well as yours will for a tattoo though

The red's going to be a bit painful, and I don't know if you have different artists where you live, but where I am most of the tattoo artists refuse to use white because the body rejects it so easily. Black is the most non-fadey that I know of though.

Stay away from whites, flesh tones, and warm colors. xD They fade a lot faster than the cooler colors.

Blues and whites tend to fade fast from what I've noticed.

all colors will eventually fade, but you want to stay away from purple and blue, because they will eventually turn gray-ish. Warm colors, and sometimes green depending on the shade, (if it is a yellowish green) will last longer. I am fairly dark complexioned and those colors are still vibrant on my skin even after 3 years. VERY LOVELY TATTOO

It's an awesomely awesome design for a tattoo... I don't have one myself (hopefully someday!) But personally if you want them designed around your pentagram, I would want them a lot more metal ^^ Just my opinion though!

i suggest B & G (black and grey) requires minimum touch ups and doesn't fade like colour. red is a colour that also doesn't fade quickly but still fades faster than Black and grey. I hope I helped a little!! I have 4 tattoos myself and I'm always happy to help fellow tattoo seekers :]

This will be such a wicked tat! I don't have any myself... (a huge fear of needles and pain really make it impossible for me to go through that) but it'd look awesome! I find from observation that blues stay longest and best...

Hm.... I have 4 tattoos and of them, blue and green have faded least over the years. Imo, it depends on where you go and what kind of ink the artist uses. Some inks are better quality than others I think.

That is super cute! I have tattoos with red/black/white in them and they did not fade at ALL. If you take care of it when it's healing and remember to always use sunblock when you go to the beach & stuff you will be fine no matter what colours you choose

don't get yellows and reds ESPECIALLY if your skin is kind of dark like someone from the caribian. My moms faded FAST!

red does tend to fade, from my experience, and I know people with white in their tattoos, and it doesn't really show up very well on skin. I love the placement of the mermaids though, I just love arm tattoos. I got my sons initials tattooed on the inner part of my forearm. Does your pentagram have any particular meaning to you?

My husband has a beautiful Celtic cross on his arm with a blue jewel with awesome shading that hasn't faded at all, or if it has, it's very unnoticeable.

Most colors will stay for quite a long time as long as you take care of it. Using sunblock helps alot if you spend alot of time outside.
