Description
Still taking a break from my Older Gaang series (you can see Aang and Zuko !), so here's another headshot! This time, it's Mako!I keep thinking these headshots will be easy and a piece of cake.. and I'm wrong each time... I had to redraw his face/jawline a gajillion times until it kind of looked like him. *_* But I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out! And I'm glad to be done!
Mako isn't one of my favorite characters from Legend of Korra, but I do like his design, and I just had the sudden urge to draw him. It was actually a lot of fun once I got the drawing to look like him!
And eeurrghh, I hesitate to share this with the world, but here is the process of this image; evidence that I am really a terrible artist when I'm sketching:

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW, HE LOOKS PERFEEEECT~! *O* I have so much trouble drawing him and YOU DID IT GREAT! It looks JUST like him!! I really love his face - which is a weird thing to say about a headshot since that's the most of it, I guess, but I really do. His features came out great; his lips, his eyes, his nose, even just the shape of his facial structure is SPOT ON! He looks so pissy here, but, well, he IS kinda pissy a LOT at the beginning of the series. ~_~;
ALSO, WOAH, 73 FAVES, 0 COMMENTS, WTF. GUYS, C'MON. ~_~;
I see now what you mean about the hot pink; I think it would have looked super cool if you'd stuck with it, but even without doing so, this looks amazing. His nose here is my favourite that you've done so far; the ball of his nose is more prominent than in the others, and I like that. It makes him look more realistic.
And you DID HIS HAIR. I have SUCH trouble with his hair. ~_~; I actually have barely sketched him, so I guess I can't really say I've tried too hard, but STILL. I have trouble with the CONCEPT of his hair. :-= THERE.

I'm still iffy on whether or not I succeeded at portraying Mako accurately enough. It's so funny that you think it looks just like him, because for 80% of the time I was working on this, IT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE HIM AT ALL.
I am bummed I didn't get to stick with the hot pink, but it was just making trying to figure out a light-source/shading accurately a huge pain. I almost gave up because of it!
