Forest unicorns

Forest unicorns are an ancient race. They look like a mix between deer and unicorn. They have magic but only nature magic. They can make plants grow and heal them, purify water etc. Anything nature related.

They took care of the world, helping the seasons change and keeping everything healthy.

But soon after ponies came around and started to destroy parts of nature to build houses etc. The forest unicorns retreated deep into the woods. They hate anything related to the death of nature, so they put up magical barriers around the forest, so no pony could enter them.

Over thousands of years, less and less forest unicorns were seen by ponies. It is believed that they've all dissappeared by now. They're nothing more than an old story to pony kind now

Forest unicorns don't have cutie marks. It's somewhat the opposite of ponies.

As kids they have their white spots. When they get older they find their magic, their purpose in the forest and loose their spots.

Some forest unicorns never loose their spots.

Forest unicorns don't speak. They developed silent communication, by body language and facial expressions to avoid drawing any
attention.

Forest unicorn have natural colors. Mostly brown like twyla,

but they can have any muted color. They need to blend into the environment to not be noticed.

On rare occasions a forest unicorn can be born with bright and vibrant colors. In their midst this is a sign for natural born leader.

Such forest unicorns end up being clan leaders, commanding their clan members, since they themselves can't go out. They'd be spotted to easily out in the forest. But withing the villages them standing out it a good thing.

They get noticed when they say something and are easy to find to give new commands and oversee the troups

They are also the only ones that verbally communicate with their own kind or others

The leaders can earn markings based on their element. Once they do this they've proven to be great leaders, not every forest unicorn leader gets these markings, some never get them.

As established before, when a forest unicorn looses their spots it's their equivalent of getting a cutie mark. They have found their purpose. Leaders can have 2 "cutie mark" moments with their white spots and elemental markings.
