Wow this is amazing!! Please tell me how did you do the curls? I am trying to do new hairstyles for my characters and i seem to not get the curls right for my characters. The curls in this piece you did is awesome!! Keep up the good work.

First I drew tubes(kinda like short chunky dreads) all over her head , then filled them with a base of color of brown.
Then I took dark brown, light brown, and white and sketched individual strands of hair going around each tube. I just drew curved lines up and down each tube and the bottom to make it look like the hair strands are going around in a spiral/curl. I put a dark spot on the bottom of some of them to make them seem like hallow curls.

I also used a Photoshop hair brush to this. I'm sure you can use a pencil too.
